Will He Finish This Job?

I'm just curious. Since Ben Krompak didn't finish high school, and didn't finish college, what faith can we put in his ability to finish anything he starts as a commissioner? I can only imagine what a Blade editorial might say about a Republican or Independent candidate with these credentials.

No votes yet

a Democrat why does it matter Fred? He is the leader we need. He is young and full of fresh ideas.......right?

Too bad his last name wasn't Palin; then he'd be "qualified" to be President.

Considering how anti-intellectual conservatives have become, I’m surprised this isn’t a pro for them. Conservatives on the radio and the Internets regularly tell me that school, particularly college is just communist indoctrination; I figure this is the exact guy you’d be looking for.

Sarah Palin quit midterm as governor of Alaska. Why is she held in high esteem by Republicans and is this not any different than Ben Krompak?

Well see Sensor you'd be wrong. This is not the guy I'm looking for, but then again neither was Sarah Palin. And I would point out that people who have graduated high school and college have been considered not intellectual enough to run the country so why would someone who has done neither be considered bright enough to run the county. I certainly in no hurry to turn my tax dollars over to someone who hasn't finished high schoool considering what those who have have done with it so far.
I gues the question is Sensor who is better equipped to handle your money? A kid down the street who dropped out, or you?

The true facts are as follows. Ben's mother and I gave him permission to take the GED so that he could graduate three years early to enter college. He attended the University for three years and left, with the intention of someday returning, to start his own business.

He has been employed since he was 14 years old. He has a great deal of civic experience having served on TMACOG committees, the Toledo Lucas County Housing fund and was the director of Toledo Area Ministries Greater Toledo Smart Growth Council.

He has packed more civic responsibility into the past ten years then most folks twice his age.

The other candidates are spreading misinformation because he is the only one who has articulated any policy initiatives. They are bereft of ideas so feel compelled to respond with mud.

Incidentally, many of Toledo's best have not completed college. The comments about Ben denigrate them also.

People should quit repeating other candidates talking points and focus on Ben's true agenda, creating a business friendly environment that will empower entrepreneurs to create quality jobs for Lucas County residents

...what an a-hole. Starting his own company without having a degree. The nerve of the man.

From Bob Krompak: The other candidates are spreading misinformation...

What do you expect? He's running for office, meaning that he's trying to win a popularity contest. What would you expect his opponents to say? That he's a good candidate for office? Not in this election Bob. Not in the next one either.

I picked up on the GED and college shot, but I am a very long way from the typical voter. For example, such comments don't sway me one way or the other - they are ignored in favor of the facts. What I'm waiting for is Ben to publish what he would like to accomplish and how, specifically, he plans to accomplish these things. For instance, from Ben's website, we learn that

As Commissioner, Ben will work to save and create good jobs, to strengthen public safety, and to save taxpayers money.

which sounds real good, but just how is Ben going to accomplish these things? For instance, where does Ben stand on gun control? How about labor unions, utility rates and pollution control laws? How will he shrink the government so as to save tax dollars? How about the Telb case, and the crap about the new dog warden not being allowed to do her job?

Let's have Ben answer a few hard questions before he begins to point and scream about how 2 out of 3 commissioners have screwed everything up.

Funny, Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck are all college drops outs and they seem to know everything thing should run.

Talkin about the flunkies! Who made Collegeless Fred the expert on who caused the unemployment problem here in Toledo? Since he doesn't hold a degree in economics nor does he even have college degree what the hell is he telling Toledo how to run its business? What's even scarier people listen and believe what comes out WSPD!!!

who didn't finish high school could spell/proofread-and-fix his own stuff better than this:

'I certainly in no hurry'...

'I gues the question'...

We all make choices for our children. Sometimes good, sometime bad. The facts are he did not finish high school or college, that's not misinformation. It may be information he would rather people didn't point out, but it's not inaccurate.
I've heard the policy initiatives. They are the same ones "articulated" by Ben Konop, Wade Kapszukiewicz, and Keith Wilkowski. There is nothing new about wanting the government to solve our problems only the problems have changed. For 40 years plus the Democrat party has run Lucas County as it's own little fiefdom passing commissioner seats and council seats from one family member to the next. For proof on what kind of job they have done look at the unemployment numbers, foreclosures, and business climate.

Out of curiosity, I'd like to know what "real" jobs Mr Krompak has had. All the, committees and councils tend to remind me of guys at Jeep running for some elected union position.
They would list all the elected/appointed positions they had held. To me the main thing that told me was most of their time there they didn't do any real work.

Ben is a bright young man despite his lack of a college degree. To complete your GED as his father says is testament to a certain level of intelligence. I worked with Ben on some issues a half dozen years or so ago and he was definitely knowledgeable of the subject matter, did his homework and is very articulate both with the written word and orally.

My problem is that it was obvious he wanted to be in politics then and he seemed a bit preoccupied by it. He also did not show very good judgment in some of the problems presented, but he was very, very young. This had to do with experience and when it was pointed out that some had more experience and perhaps he should consider it more before he acted he became rather upset. Needless to say, it also affected the relationship and we have not talked personally since. So one could say that he holds grudges - but who doesn't in Toledo if they are in office. I have frequently referred to Toledo politics as grudge and revenge.

Ben also was good at taking credit for much more than he should. But not a whole lot different than others I have seen - it was not that he lied, he just used every nuance and every word to make his role look as important as possible. Sounds like most politicians we know today doesn't it?

Now that was 6 years ago, but to date I have not seen anything that would change my mind - not that I have looked hard (I have not worked with him since) and since I will vote Issues Only, it is not a vote I will make.

My question is not about whether Ben is intelligent (he is) or whether he knows the issues (probably better than most as he does his homework) or whether he will stick to something (I believe he will) but about character (would he run for another office mid term as commissioner even if he said no - I believe he would) and whether he is ready for prime time. I just don't know if his temperament and judgment are up to where I want it to be for him to be one of 3 votes on the county commission. If he were running for city council with 12 folks on it where there is more margin of error and more opportunity to learn, I'd consider voting for him over many, many others that have been on the ballot in the past.

Would I vote for him for commissioner? Well that would depend on who ran against him. But I have been known not to vote for either candidate if I did not believe they were worthy of my vote.

Just because I don't believe he is ready for prime time just yet, does not mean I don't believe he would not make a good elected leader some day. I just don't think it is today so again my concern about young Ben is his experience and how that would factor into the decisions he would make.

Well a big thank you for the propagandists of WSPD for the acknowledgment of our continued free expression of true free speech here on SwampBubbles. It's too bad that the radio station is unable to allow all Toledoans their God given right to express themselves over the publicly owned airways.

Look at these lame "responses" from the Left.

How typical. Ask a legitimate question and the Liberals/Democrats duck and dodge. I'm amazed these two didn't bring up George W Bush while they were slinging mud at others.

WAY TO GO GUYS! MOVON.ORG and your keepers at the DNC like George Soros are so proud of the way you side-stepped the question by slinging mud!

It MUST be OK then, right? After all, "they did it"

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a
socialist.

'I'm amazed these two didn't bring up George W Bush while they were slinging mud at others.'

Once again, it's the conservatives who are usually the first to mention Bush, as in wondering why the Liberals haven't....what a scream.

Ben Krompak will be my guest on Tuesday at 8:30a. Hopefully he will answer the question that wolf and all the rest of you were unable to. "What faith can we put in his ability to finish anything he starts as a commissioner"?
I never voted Bill Gates, Limbaugh, Hannity or many of the others mentioned into any elected office, especially one which controls my tax dollars. It's a shame more of you don't consider a candidate's commitment, and capabilities when voting instead of just looking for the capital letter behind their names. Sorry meant to spell it thier to make the nitpickers happy.

this guy Krompac is the same old , same old ruler class of city official..

Listener critique:
Well well well looks like another candidate is skewered by the dynamic dual. First the morning good cop then the afternoon Foghorn Leghorn attacks! http://swampbubbles.com/blogs/wolfman/20100308/extreme-radio-foghorn-leg... The first one overlooks the spontaneous thoughtful questions. Only after careful analysis of the morning tape does the talking points surface for an afternoon subjecting the listeners to a blathering tirade of character assassination.

The only uneducated thing I find with Ben Krompak was to be entrapped by the Cabal. What were you thinking being interviewed by WSPD?

I want to thank wolfmeister for calling me the good cop.

Every time I hear Krompak refer to our city, he calls it "TOLEDO". I hear another person continually call our city "TOEDILLY-OHDILLY-OHIDILLY-O". Will someone tell me what college THAT guy went to? If the university I graduated from provided me with a vocabulary on that level, I'd sue their English department to get my money back. Someone earlier referred to him as "Foghorn Leghorn", but I'm thinking "Kingfish," is more like it.
