Marcy's for Health Care

We all knew she would. She is a good soldier and will fall on the sword, The woman has no back bone., She even turns her back on her religion regarding the abortion issue.
She needs to be sent to pasture in November. She is a disgrace to NW Ohio and her office. In retirement she could spend time tutoring Baby Ben. He needs a lot of training.

On the bright side of this whole issue will be the states filing suits that will no doubt give rise to increasing state rights over the federal government.

Her vote has always been for sale to the highest bidder - you know they'll all vote for it, they're just waiting to see what their bribes will turn out to be.

Gonna smell like cookin' democrat in hell.

Representative Marcy Kaptur
Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (Ohio-9) — who is currently serving her fourteenth term in Congress — is the senior-most woman in the House of Representatives and the longest-serving Democratic woman in the history of the House.

A Polish-American from a working class background, Kaptur was born and reared in Toledo, Ohio and still lives in the same house where she grew up. Her family operated a small grocery store where her mother worked after serving on the organizing committee of a trade union at the Champion Spark Plug Company.

Photo by Robin Holland Congresswoman Kaptur became the first member of her family to attend college and received a bachelor of arts in history from the University of Wisconsin (1968) and a master's in urban planning from the University of Michigan. Trained as a city and regional planner, she practiced 15 years in Toledo and throughout the country before working in the Carter White House as an urban advisor.

Subsequently, while pursuing a doctorate in urban planning and development finance at MIT, she was recruited by the local Democratic Party to run for the U.S. House in 1982. Although outspent by a 3-to-1 margin, she parlayed her deep roots in the blue-collar neighborhoods of Toledo and the rural areas of the district to pull the national upset of 1982.

Congresswoman Kaptur now serves on the House Agriculture, Appropriations, Budget, and Oversight and Government Reform committees as well as the Transportation/Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Defense subcommittees.

Kaptur recently received the Director's Award from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University for her commitment to increased understanding and appreciation of the peoples and cultures of Eurasia, Russia and East Europe.

She was named the National Mental Health Association's "Legislator of the Year" for her championing mental health and received the 2002 Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

Kaptur is also the author of a book, WOMEN IN CONGRESS: A TWENTIETH CENTURY ODYSSEY, that was published by Congressional Quarterly in 1996.

"Wolfmaaaaaaannnn, makin' copieeeesssssss......"

Has anyone ever seen Wolfie and Marcy together at the same time? Hmmm....

???

And? Puppy, do you ever do anything but copy and paste?

On ABC this morning she was still undecided and part of the Stupak group that opposes the current House version due to funding for abortions. The Blade described her as leaning toward voting yes on the bill, but again this is contingent upon getting an agreement to maintain the federal ban on abortion funding.

IMHO she is being consistent in her pro-life stand so far. We will not know for sure until Sunday.

Big Deal! I'm of Polish descent, too, but that doesn't make me love her. She is toeing the Democratic party line, that's all. She's a good trooper for the party, and a good drama queen who is milking the spotlight for all she can. She will vote for it. She got a kiss on the cheek from Obama. Wow, that's good enough reason to vote for it! Hey, I'm from a working class background, too. So what? No one cares about my background. And Bill Moyers is a well-known journalistic leech off the taxpayer's money.

Marcy always manages to look like she's accomplished something. She, however, has turned out to be nothing but a paper shuffler. I don't believe she has ever had an original idea. I once thought she would be a good person for the job and voted for her, but she's turned out to be just another whining politician. I always wondered though, why she never married. Even with her medical problem especially with the health care program she now has available. I would think by now she would have had the Carriage Bolt removed that has been clamping her legs together at the kneecaps since she was 18. Of course now that she's well into her 70's it probably wouldn,t make a difference anyway. Maybe she'll finally be voted out of office after this so called health care reform crap.

AmericanPie

I've never heard my conservative friends more ticked off than they are now.

They are ready to "start fighting back" and/or "take back the country by force if necessary".

If this Obamanation of a bill actually passes, I get the sense that there will be riots in the street.

And on Monday, the Dow will drop like a rock as EVERYONE sells off all their Healthcare (like BCBS), Drug Company (like Pfizer), Medical Equipment maker (Like GE and Siemens), and any other stock of any company that has anything do to with medicine.

Almost 3/4 of Americans know this "bill" is a bad idea.

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a

Even though I have reached the point where I just don't care anymore about the idiotic debate over the health care bill, I had to screen-save this hilarious post for posterity. I guess we'll find out after Sunday if Libs and his doomsday scenario comes to fruition. Me? I think life will muddle along the way it always has, and if the Democrats do end up passing a bad bill, they will get a generation-long booting from power.

No riots, no crashing stock markets, although a few talk radio hosts might have brain aneurysms.

So far the prediction of a collapsing stock market by LibsCanBlowMe does not appear to be on the near horizon. Insurance company stocks rose on Friday and analysts said investors were encouraged that the period of legislative uncertainty seems to be over, as "there is nothing in the bill that would allow the government to cap prices and premiums."

I have some money inested in the Merril Lynch Pharmaceutical HOLDR fund, and its options futures show little volatility. This fund has performed fairly well for me after the 2008 market collapse, and I suspect it is as good as any indicator of market reaction to the health care debate. I also think pharmaceutical company stocks will probably show significant gains with the extra 30 million people who will be phased into some form of health care insurance in the next few years.

Then again, I don't turn to Glenn Beck for my financial advice... :-)

If the Healthcare Obamanation passes, here was the close on Friday.
The Dow Jones Healthcare sector closed at 334.39

Yessireee, Wall Street so far just HATES health-care reform....

I was thinking the same thing when I checked the market. I was going to let HistoryMike do the "I told you so".

a year ago, health-care sector ave. 250. Now, 12 months after all this health-care reform talk and now after this health-care reform passage, it's at 336. That frickin' graph steady as she goes in the 'up' direction for a year. Up 2.28 today.

Big meltdown, eh, Libsie??

about 'socialist' health care reform. So, we get the reform and Wall St., the ultimate free-market mechanism, reacts positively. Guess Wall St. doesn't think it's 'socialism.'

I'm fine with the market going up. I have money in the market. I assume you have money in the market. The average joe blow has money in the market, in one form or another, be it 401-Ks, IRAs, pension funds.

I have a problem, however, with the likes of AIG getting 170 billion in taxpayer bailout money and then turning around around and handing out 160 million in executive bonuses to the very people that helped create the biggest financial crisis since the 20's. That has nothing to do with the 'market' and how the little people like you and me may benefit from the 'market.'

You must have thought the market would tank today after health-care reform passage. Not the first time you've been wrong, and I'm certain not the last.

Hurled bricks, threats surround health
overhaul

AP Photo

Unrest over sweeping federal health care
legislation has turned to vandalism and threats, with bricks hurled
through Democrats' windows, a propane line cut at the home of a
congressman's brother and menacing phone messages left for lawmakers who
supported the bill.

The FBI is investigating the instances, which
include shattered windows at four Democratic offices in New York,
Arizona and Kansas. At least 10 members of Congress have reported some
sort of threat as of Wednesday, and no arrests have been made.

The brick flung through the window of a county
Democratic Party office in Rochester, N.Y., over the weekend had a note
attached: "Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice,"
roughly quoting 1964 Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater.

A New York congresswoman whose office window also
was smashed with a brick accused the Republican leadership of failing to
denounce attacks against lawmakers who supported the legislation. The
vandalism was at Democratic Rep. Louise Slaughter's district office in
Niagara Falls early Friday, two days before the House passed the health
care overhaul bill.

"It's more disturbing to me that Republican
leadership has not condemned these attacks and instead appears to be
fanning the flames with coded rhetoric," said Slaughter, a key
supporter of the bill.

House Republican leader John Boehner of Ohio said
in a statement that while many Americans are angry over the bill's
passage, "violence and threats are unacceptable."

"That's not the American way," Boehner
said. "We need to take that anger and channel it into positive
change."

The FBI and Capitol Police were briefing
Democratic lawmakers on how to handle perceived security threats, said
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md. Those who feel they are at risk
will be "getting attention from the proper authorities," Hoyer
said, declining to say whether any are receiving extra security.
Normally only those in leadership positions have personal security
guards.

At a news conference in Washington, Hoyer said
people have yelled that Democratic lawmakers should be put on firing
lines and posters have appeared with the faces of lawmakers in the cross
hairs of a target.

While not directly criticizing Republicans, Hoyer
said that "any show of appreciation for such actions encourages
such action."

Gun imagery was used in a posting on the Facebook
page of Sarah Palin urging people to organize against 20 House Democrats
who voted for the health care bill and whose districts went for the John
McCain-Palin ticket two years ago. Palin's post featured a U.S. map with
circles and cross hairs over the 20 districts.

Some of the anger over the bill spilled over in a
flood of obscenity and threat-filled phone and fax messages to the
office of Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich. His office released some of the
messages it has received since the health care bill passed, declining to
add further comment.

"I hope you bleed ... (get) cancer and
die," one male caller told the congressman between curses.

A fax with the title "Defecating on
Stupak" carried a picture of a gallows with "Bart (SS)
Stupak" on it and a noose attached. It was captioned, "All
Baby Killers come to unseemly ends Either by the hand of man or by the
hand of God."

The vandalism and threats surprised a researcher
at a think tank that monitors extremist groups.

"I think it is astounding that we are seeing
this wave of vigilantism," said Mark Potok of the Alabama-based
Southern Poverty Law Center.

In Virginia, someone cut a propane line leading to
a grill at the Charlottesville home of U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello's brother
after the address was posted online by activists angry about the health
care overhaul. Perriello also said a threatening letter was sent to his
brother's house. The FBI and local authorities were investigating.

Tea party activists had posted the brother's
address online thinking it was the congressman's home. The post urged
opponents to drop by and "express their thanks" for the
Democrat's vote in favor of the sweeping health care reform.

Nigel Coleman, chairman of the Danville Tea Party,
said he re-posted the comment that originated on another conservative
blog, including the address, Monday on his Facebook page. The posts were
taken down after the mistake was discovered.

"We've never been associated with any
violence or any vandalism," he said. "We're definitely sorry
that we posted the incorrect address."

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, who has
filed a lawsuit challenging the health care overhaul and is a favorite
of the Tea Party, said for activists to post an address of Perriello's
family shows that things are going too far.

"That is way over the line," he said.
"It's not civil discourse, it's an invitation to intimidation and
it's totally unacceptable."

Potok compared the online posting of a public
official's address to tactics used by hate groups.

"This is what neo Nazi leaders in America do
today," Potok said. "They post personal information about
their enemies and sit back and wait for somebody else to act."

Lyndsay Stauble, executive director of the
Sedgwick County Democratic Party in Wichita, Kan., said a brick was
hurled through the party's storefront plate glass window late Friday or
early Saturday, landing in her office and gouging her wooden desk.

She said that written in marker on the brick were
the slogans, "No to Obama" and "No Obamycare."

"The tone is not surprising, but the
aggressiveness is," Stauble said Wednesday. "I'm not shocked
that people are not reacting well to a large piece of legislation passed
by a president that they don't like."

In Tucson, Ariz., someone either kicked in or shot
out a glass door and a side window at the congressional office of Rep.
Gabrielle Giffords early Monday, a few hours after the House health care
vote. Giffords voted for the bill.

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a
socialist.

It appears that Nancy and company never paid attention in Government class so I post this tutorial for them to brush up on how a bill is passed into law...

If man has no tea in him, he is incapable of understanding truth. ~Japanese Proverb

Correct - they were paying attention how Republicans passed their bills.

From what I understand, when the GOP-controlled House used deem-and-pass, it involved the following sequence:

>Bill was originally passed in the House, and sent to the Senate.
>The Senate passes the bill, but with amendments.
>The House "deems" the original bill passed, in the vote to approve the amendments.

That is not the case here, as the Senate and House health care bills are separate entities entirely ... a very fundamental difference.

Today's Congressional Clown Posse, as good Leftists, take an inch of expediency and stretch it a mile in order to cover their radical behinds.

Obama loves to pit the haves against the have nots...well Mr. ThinSkin President...here we go...hows it feel Odumbo?

If any of you think this trainwreck of a "bill" has anything to do with health care, think again.

Obamacare will result in the creation of at least 16,500 new jobs. Doctors? Nurses? Ha! Dream on, suckers. That’s 16,500 new IRS agents, who’ll be needed to check whether you — yes, you, Mr. and Mrs. Hopendope of 27 Hopeychangey Gardens — are in compliance with the 15 tax increases and dozens of new federal mandates the Deemocrats are about to “deem” into existence. This will be the biggest expansion of the IRS since World War II — and that’s change you can believe in. This is what “health” “care” “reform” boils down to: fewer doctors, longer wait times, but more bureaucrats. And, when you walk into the Health Care Enforcement Division of the IRS, the staffing levels will make Madelyne Hernandez’s group-sex scene look like an Equity-minimum one-man play off-off-off Broadway.....(with thanks to Mark Steyn)

This is the best thing that could happen, for the Conservatives! If it wouldn't have passed, many democrats would find a way to hold onto their seats this Fall. Now, Conservatives can paint 'em all with the socialist(red)brush. That's probably why a lot of 'em voted to screw the American People, they know they're done for in a few short months, anyhow. Now we have the chance to not only get some of 'em out, we can get them ALL out.

I agree GMan...when all the special deals (bribes) come out, when states go even more bankrupt trying to fulfill ObamaCare mandates, when the IRS wants to know about your insurance coverage and probably even knows about your personal medical history...it will all be awful reminders to the voting public--- what our so-called representatives did to us. When you see the increased "take" of your monetary fruits of YOUR labor taken from you and your family and handed over to someone else "deemed worthy" to have it, we will rise up. I hope MK is resting up.

She has already voted yes....What gets me is that they keep saying this is for Americans but they are not listening to the majority of us. We don't want it. Also to be fined if you don't buy insurance...with the economy like it is now and getting worse, who is going to pay for the insurance or the fine if there is no money? Has a little sound of Communistic Control if you ask me.

I could use a job as one of those new IRS agents.

Hey Jeepmaker have a little faith. The voting public has ALWAYS shown common sense and intelligence at the polls. Gosh, Carty was elected twice! Have you not noticed the extremely efficient city councils and county commisioner board? Also look at the steller job concerning school board elections. Were it not for our various elected officials leading us onward and upward we could be wallowing in high unemployment, low housing values, soaring costs for services, crises in the educational system, new taxes and fees, a decrease in services from police and fire fighters, and indecisive governmental agencies and policies. Maybe you need to take a minute and reflect on your blessings.

Yes, It will be a slaughter....I hear a certain candidates phone is ringing off the hook this morning. People have (literally) awakened. Kaptur just may be ousted. Like the freedom from the Kennedys that people in Mass. experienced, maybe we could also be freed.

As I read more of the Obamanation Healthcare bill, two things strike me.
1) Although we all are going to have our taxes raised immediately, the bulk of the bill does not go into effect until after the 2014 Presidential election. The disasters to our financial sector will not start until closer to that date.

2) As I read the Socialist con called the 'Healthcare bill', I realize that it has become a LAW that you MUST buy health insurance. Period. If you don't buy it, the IRS will come down on you like a ton of bricks. YOU WILL GIVE AIG AND OTHER INSURANCE COMPANIES YOUR MONEY or men with guns will come and take your house.

What a boon to "Big Insurance"!
You will do as Big Brother says. Period. You will give "Big Insurance" your money. Period.
If you own a small business, you will purchase insurance for your employees or mommy gubberment will take your money and buy it for you. Period.

"Big Insurance" is poised to MAKE A HUGE PROFIT off of Obamacare.

Don't blame me,

LibsCan..you're right, I think. Read this today:
Simply, you have nationalized healthcare by proxy. Insurance companies are now heavily regulated government contractors. Way to get big business out of Washington! They will clear a small, government-approved profit on top of their government-approved fees. Then, when healthcare costs rise -- and they will -- Democrats will insist, yet again, that the profit motive is to blame and out from this Obamacare Trojan horse will pour another army of liberals demanding a more honest version of single-payer.
The Obama administration has turned the insurance industry into the Blackwater of socialized medicine.

Once Opponents, Insurers Back Effort to Make Health Reform Succeed
By Michael Scherer / Washington
"The health-insurance industry, which spent months campaigning against Democratic health reform, has shifted focus in the wake of its passage, pivoting from opposition to making sure the new law succeeds beyond most expectations.

America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), the industry trade group, has agreed to sign on to a new, 50-state health care reform implementation effort, provisionally called Enroll America, which is being organized by Ron Pollack of the pro-reform group Families USA. "We are participating in it," says AHIP spokesman Robert Zirkelbach. "The goal is to get everyone covered."

you write 'further proof big insurance owns Democrats' and then use an article that says in its very first sentence how the health-insurance industry has spent 'months campaigning against Democratic health reform'.

So now, suddenly, on a turn of a dime, the Dems are 'owned by big insurance'.

Wish you people would make up your mind.

The problem here is we need campaign finance reform. Doesn't matter which side try's to come up with meaningful reform you have unlimited moneyed lobbyists gumming up the process. The problem will get worse because of the right wing supreme court ruling this spring allowing corporations the same rights as the individual voter. Why doesn't the extreme right wing call for Campaign Finance Reform? Where are the protests of the supreme court?

Statements made are the opinion of the writer who is exercising his first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and are generally permitted.

The influence of lobbyists and how they affect the entire process, in a decidedly negative way, is something people of all political stripes could--and should--be rallying behind.

Democratic politicians are as much to blame as anyone else, including Obama.

I wish you Libs would wake up and read.

You've heard of AIG, right? The Big Insurance company that was "too big to fail" and needed billions of taxpayer dollars to remodel their offices?

Look who AIG owns.

AP Exclusive: Kerry Blocked Law, Drew Cash

By JOHN SOLOMON
The Associated Press
Wednesday, February 4, 2004; 5:14 PM

"WASHINGTON - A Senate colleague was trying to close a loophole that allowed a major insurer to divert millions of federal dollars from the nation's most expensive construction project. John Kerry stepped in and blocked the legislation.

Over the next two years, the insurer, American International Group, paid Kerry's way on a trip to Vermont and donated at least $30,000 to a tax-exempt group Kerry used to set up his presidential campaign. Company executives donated $18,000 to his Senate and presidential campaigns. "

Also, try and READ this article from the Washington Post.

"Because their politics rarely align, the shared opposition underlined something else Kerry and Sensenbrenner have in common: millions of dollars of family wealth invested over the years in the companies that make medical devices."
The price of Medtronic, a stock owned by several lawmakers, rose from $7 in 1995 to $50 early last year. As with other companies, the stock price has dropped to about $40 because of economic turmoil and questions about the impact of health-care reform.
