How's that "Hope and Change" working out for you Democrats?
Unemployment rises in 30 states in January
By CHRISTOPHER S. RUGABER, AP Economics Writer Christopher S. Rugaber, Ap Economics Writer – 2 hrs 17 mins ago
WASHINGTON – Unemployment rose in 30 states in January, the Labor Department said Wednesday, evidence that jobs remain scarce in most regions of the country.
The data is somewhat better than December, when 43 states reported higher unemployment rates, but worse than November, when rates fell in most states.
Still, five states reported record-high joblessness in January: California, at 12.5 percent; South Carolina, 12.6 percent; Florida, 11.9 percent; North Carolina, 11.1 percent; and Georgia, 10.4 percent.
Michigan's unemployment rate is still the nation's highest, at 14.3 percent, followed by Nevada, with 13 percent and Rhode Island at 12.7 percent. South Carolina and California round out the top five.
There were some signs of job creation. Thirty-one states added jobs in January, up from only 11 in the previous month. But the job gains weren't enough, in many cases, to lower the unemployment rate.
For example, California reported the largest job gains, of 32,500, though its unemployment rate also rose. Illinois, New York, Washington state and Minnesota reported the next highest totals of new jobs.
The lowest unemployment rates are still found in upper Plains states, with North Dakota's jobless rate of 4.2 percent the lowest in the nation. Nebraska and South Dakota had the next lowest rates, at 4.6 percent and 4.8 percent, respectively.
In January, the national unemployment rate fell to 9.7 percent from 10 percent the previous month. Last week, the Labor Department said the national rate was unchanged in February at 9.7 percent, a better reading than most analysts expected.
State unemployment data for February won't be released until later this month.

UPDATE:
Oblahblah's approval ratings at all time low:
The president’s Approval Index rating has held steady in the first two months of 2010, after falling a total of seven points in the final three months of 2009.
The number who Strongly Disapprove of the president’s performance dropped two points to 39% in February. However, the number who Strongly Approve also fell two points to 25%. That leads to a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14.
While the number who strongly disapprove of the president’s performance ties the results found in August, September and October, the percentage that strongly approves is at the lowest level measured yet.
See Rasmussen website for today's telling graph!!

Obama and the Democrats wouldn't care if unemployment hit 25% in the country. Their hell bent on shoving their socialized medicine plan down our throats. That's all they care about right now.

Cloward-pivens economoics via alinsky method:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloward%E2%80%93Piven_strategy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saul_Alinsky
Outlining his strategy in organizing Alinsky writes:
"There's another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevski said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution. To bring on this reformation requires that the organizer work inside the system, among not only the middle class but the 40 per cent of American families – more than seventy million people – whose income range from $5,000 to $10,000 a year [in 1971]. They cannot be dismissed by labeling them blue collar or hard hat. They will not continue to be relatively passive and slightly challenging. If we fail to communicate with them, if we don't encourage them to form alliances with us, they will move to the right. Maybe they will anyway, but let's not let it happen by default."

These people arent exactly shy about thier goals....they just pooh pooh any idea of such a thing when confronted...
"I will bring about the Fundemental transformation of America"....Obama's exact words...
"Not without a "final solution" you wont".....Zeitgeist.
Their hell bent on shoving their socialized medicine plan down our throats.
Who is socializing medicine? You have no idea what you're saying do you? You just throw up the latest wing nut talking point. Please go educate yourself about what "socialized medicine" is and please tell me how anyone is trying to do it?
The only truely socialized medicine we have in the US is The Veterans Health Administration and no one is advocating that for the rest of the US.
Spoken like a true useful idiot...
What...what govt take over of health care?
What Money for Abortions?
What fines and new taxes?
What premium increases?
Look how well da VA functions...
No no...dats not socialism...der...
Yes it's so popular than auntie nancy told dems to just bite the bullet and loose their seats and vote for it...
and it's so urgent that the benifits dont start for 4years...yep yep...URGENT URGENT!!! CRISIS CRISIS!!!!
Oh But PAY THOSE NEW TAXES NOW THANK YOU!
Only a mouth breating lib believes that crap Gspot.....thus your belief in it...
Trying to socialize medicine is hardly new:
What Money for Abortions?
You and I could have a seperate debate on whether there would be money for Abortions, but whether there is or isn't, it again "isn't the government take over of health care".
What fines and new taxes?
Yup they suck...not a fan at all of these provisions, but again this isn't "socialized medicine".
What premium increases?
Good question? What premium increases? You mean the big jump I had this year or the 39% Californians got or the 33% that Indian got? The current system isn't sustainable
Look how well da VA functions...
My first thought it, it's our Vet, we owe them - fix it and my second thought is, NO ONE is suggesting that we set up a system like the VA for everyone.
Any health care bill from Obama is a civil rights bill, that's all it is. It has nothing to do with health care but all to do with the over 100 new government agencies that will be created. Over 100 new agencies filled with union jobs that equate to imcompetence. Also in the bills are quota systems for all medical schools.
Obama's policies reflect who he is; they are the vehicles that masquerade as hope and change, which are the mechanisms for social justice and economic justice -- "meaningful legislation" through wealth redistribution. And now, through health care "reform," Obama will attempt to finish the job of applying positive liberties (what the government can do for you), ultimately attempting to forsake the Constitution, which is a charter of negative liberties (what the government cannot do to you), to apply the final judgment of the Civil Rights movement.

Hey Sensor, in addition to reading American Thinker, you should check ou Washington Examiner. Here is an excerpt you'll love:
Last week, amid Washington's blizzards, Obama was asked about the $17 million bonus awarded to JPMorgan Chase Chief Executive Officer Jamie Dimon and the $9 million bonus for Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein.
"I know both these guys; they are very savvy businessmen," he said. "I, like most of the American people, don't begrudge people success or wealth."
So much for campaign-trail denunciations of "fat cat" bankers and bloated bonuses.
Maybe you can explain why Obama is supporting those "fat cat" bankers sg?

I thought conservatives loved big business? Please make up your mind.
Wow...Look at the crab walk when you see your lord and master glad handing wallstreet fatcats...
Oduma....bought and paid for....bails out his friends and raises your taxes to pay for it....
Look ladies, I'm more than will to have this debate, but it needs to be a reality based debate and not the reality that you've created for yourself in Teabagistan.
The CBO says that it will reduce the future federal deficit by over $118 over the next 10 years. How is that "not saving money"? Forget the "side" benefit of allowing affordable health care to millions of uninsured Americans.
BTW Nice job TB, I love the way you worked “social justice and economic justice” into the conversation. It’s fascinated to watch the leaders of Teabagistan like Beck say something on the air and see how fast it filters to the rest of the wing nuts. Or maybe he was just copying and pasting from the same American Thinker article you are (http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/02/why_obama_cant_drop_healthcare_1....)
It’s just proves the point that you’re not capable of thinking for yourself, you just patriot what your told.
The Liberal talking point: "The CBO says that it will reduce the future federal deficit by over $118 over the next 10 years."
AND THE TRUTH THAT LIBERALS DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW.
Yes, the cost may be reduced over the next 10 years, but that is only because the spending provisions don't take effect until 2013. In short, for close to 3 years your Taxes will go up to pay for the sham bill, but the money will not even start being spent until 2013. In other words, over the next 10 years, only 7 of those 10 years will include healthcare spending.
"The actual cost of the Baucus bill is $1.7 trillion over ten years, but Democrats prefer to say it will cost $900 billion over the next ten years — this is true, but only because the main spending provisions don’t kick in until 2013. The Democrats also aren’t advertising that the $838 billion in new taxes and fees in the legislation begin being collected next year.
Further, the bill’s long-term deficit-reduction plans depend on cuts to Medicare — year after year — that Congress seems unlikely to support once Baucus’s bill is passed. Even when the Congressional Budget Office tallied up the costs of the bill based on the assumption that these cuts would be made, the CBO voiced doubts that they will be. “These projections assume that the proposals are enacted and remain unchanged throughout the next two decades, which is often not the case for major legislation. For example, the sustainable growth rate (SGR) mechanism governing Medicare’s payments to physicians has frequently been modified to avoid reductions in those payments,” reads the CBO score of the Baucus bill. That’s bureaucrat-speak for “Not gonna happen.”

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a socialist.
BUWHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Your Freudian slip is showing from under your dress.........
"It’s just proves the point that you’re not capable of thinking for yourself, you just patriot what your told"
You unconciously acknowledge who the patriot is in your argument!...and it's not you!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
A closet conservative huh??!!HAHAHAHAHA!!
Sensor G says, "It’s just proves the point that you’re not capable of thinking for yourself, you just patriot what your told"
Once again s.g. does not even try to dispute what I've said with a constructive alternate point, but attacks the messenger. Typical. Maybe you can find one of those sad little copycat coffee parties somewhere. Good Luck.
Still Clinging to my guns and Bible. But not even a little bitter cause BO's going down and so are the socialist progressives including Mousy Carptur. YEA!!

What is there to dispute? You're not posting any facts only right wing vomit. Please point out in the bill where it creates 100 hundreds of new government agencies and where in the bill that is requires racial quotas for black in med school.
You make me laugh.
You claim to be some sort of "free thinker" but you just repeat the Liberal Talking Points like a good little puppet.
"Teabagistan" is one of those spoon-fed Liberal/Socialist things you vomit up when told. Here, you mindless chimp. Look at what other Liberal/Socialist/Democrat talking heads are also using "your" word on their propaganda websites.

I didn't vote for a socialist.
I just find the word Teabagistan funny. Thanks for the links though, I've never even heard of half the sites.
But you post at the other half obviously...
What's your DU nickname?
you throw up the latest lib talking point. Medicare is also a form of socialized medicine. You're clueless. It's eventually going to be a complete takeover of our medical care. I used to work for a health insurance company. Policies don't need 2,700 pages of crap to be written like the bills that were written by Pelosi and gang.

Wow - you worked for a health insurance company, now I understand were your coming from. Also, please look up the definition of socialized medicine and then get back to me.

Great! You know how to link. You're mom must be so proud. With a lot hard work, we'll get you reading in no time.
From Wikipedia -
United States
The Veterans Health Administration, the military health care system, and the Indian Health Service are examples of socialized medicine in the stricter sense of government administered care, although for limited populations.
Medicare and Medicaid are forms of publicly-funded health care which fits the looser definition of socialized medicine. Part B coverage (Medical) requires a monthly premium of $96.40 (and possibly higher) and the first $135 of costs per year also fall to the senior and not the government.
Funny - Republicans right now are running on "saving Medicare" from the mean old Obama.

Oppose Obama Healthcare Senate bill

Rep. Marcy Kaptur
March 13, 2010
I ask you to oppose Obama's Healthcare Bill. I am a Senior Citizen on Medicare. You would add 30 million more people to be covered. (No significant new Doctors added), You would remove $480 billion from Medicare for "savings". (Care would be better and still timely?? I think not!!!) You would force me to have health Insurance and fine me if I didn't have it!! You would tax me for four years before major benefits accrued?? No wonder a solid majority of Americans oppose this grandiose and expensive plan, as do I. I suspect you will still vote for it, however.
Let me tell you what I will then do. I will for the first time get involved in Fall election and donate all I can afford to ensure your defeat. I will man phone banks. hand out flyers, canvass neighborhoods. etc, etc. I would vote for Ed Emery if he were running!!! He would at least represent the majority of his constituents and not try to ram this bill down our throats using phoney "rule changes" and other deceptions!! This is going to be your last term. You are a poor excuse for a US Representative!!
