The song was catchy and well-produced, but there were contradictory messages in the ad. If Audi is suggesting that concerns about the environment and climate change are foolish, then why do they build the clean diesel A3 TDI in the first place?
Audi also risks a backlash from green-focused consumers if they continue the political bent to their ads. Again, I am not debating climate change, but pointing out that any ad campaign that can potentially alienate a large chunk of its potential market goes against the grain of traditional marketing techniques.
I mostly scratched my head at the mish-mash of satire and conflicting messages. I suppose the ad might have appealed to climate change skeptics while being so over-the-top that greenies would not get too vexed, but this was a helluva risk.

The Ordnungspolizei, or Green Police, were a police force in Nazi Germany. They arrested Anne Frank and her family. I'm guessing no one in Audi's marketing department realized this fact.
There's a city full of walls you can post complaints at
You must be kidding Handbanana. The GERMAN Audi folks know a whole lot more about the Green Police than you ever will. The Nazis wore green shirts! that's why they were called the Green Police. It was very intentional by Audi and marketing genius IMO...
The ridicule of the environ-mental naziwackos could not be more clear or effective regardless of Audi's intent...altho I think Audi knew it was perfect symbolism: Green Police::Nazi::environmental tyranny.
Mockery in its pure form. Mocking the Green movement and mocking those people who buy a product based on how "green" it is. A "clean" green diesel engine? HaHa.

Last time I saw a group do the play "The Diary of Anne Frank" it was so bad that in the end when the Nazi's came in through the door a spectator yelled "SHE'S IN THE ATTIC!"

actually they did:
Cheap Trick did rerecord “Dream Police” as “Green Police,” but judging from the version available on Audi's Facebook page, they only changed one word; the rest of the lyrics remain the same:
The green police, inside of my head.
The green police, they come to me in my bed.
The green police, they're coming to arrest me, oh no.
You know that talk is cheap, and those rumors ain't nice.
And when I fall asleep I don't think I'll survive the night, the night.
'Cause they're waiting for me.
They're looking for me.
Ev'ry single night they're driving me insane.
Those men inside my brain.
The green police, inside of my head.
(Live inside of my head.)
The green police, they come to me in my bed.
(Come to me in my bed.)
The green police, they're coming to arrest me, oh no.
Well, I can't tell lies, 'cause they're listening to me.
And when I fall asleep, bet they're spying on me tonight, tonight.
'Cause they're waiting for me.
They're looking for me.
Ev'ry single night they're driving me insane.
Those men inside my brain.
I try to sleep, they're wide awake, they won't let me alone.
They don't get paid or take vacations, or let me alone.
They spy on me, I try to hide, they won't let me alone.
They persecute me, they're the judge and jury all in one.
'Cause they're waiting for me.
They're looking for me.
Ev'ry single night they're driving me insane.
Those men inside my brain.
Quite a few readers argue that the Audi ad is pro-green police, but the lyrics certainly don't portray them as anything but bad.
