...as a sign of encouragement? I was in a car one time when me and a friend passed a guy who was kissing a girl. He honked the horn not to stop him, but as a sign of solidarity. Perhaps the rapist took the honking horn as encouragement. If someone had attacked the rapist s/he would probably have been sued by the young felon's family. Calling 911 was the smartest move.

Calling 911 is the smartest move. I'd like to think I'd go back to the scene and yell something out the window, but you really don't know what you might do in a situation like that.
This is a sad reflection of our society today. I also would just call 911- not sure of the unknown. Especially, with my kids in the car. My heart goes out to this victim and I hope this kid is in jail for life!
