I think that I am reading this right...

Just got a look at this post from the AP... http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Figures-on-government-apf-2178072020.html?... ...Correct me if I am wrong,,,but...the receipts went down...the outlay went up...and the national debt is screwed. The floated proposals will only make this worse. Yiyiyi...my great-great grandkids will be paying for this!

Yeah, 70-90 percent of the debt is due to Reagan, Bush, and Bush.

Pink Slip

BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

President 44 has added more the deficit than the prevous 43 COMBINED.

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

Uh...no.

Pink Slip

Uh...yeah...

Mr. Obama's $3.6 trillion budget blueprint, by his own admission, redefines the role of government in our economy and society. The budget more than doubles the national debt held by the public, adding more to the debt than all previous presidents -- from George Washington to George W. Bush -- combined.

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

You are confusing deficit with debt. You said Obama "added more the deficit than the prevous 43 COMBINED". The article you linked refers to the national debt held by the public. These are two different things.

Pink Slip

Oh shew...let me clarify :

"Obama added more the national dept than the prevous 43 COMBINED"

Oh that's much better...

Happy?

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

That assertion is based on projections. So far, Obama has spent $1.4 trillion. The current debt is over $12 trillion. Even if the assertion is based on publicly held debt (currently around $5-6 trillion), the numbers don't add up.

Pink Slip

Pink,
I sincerely hope you aren't defending the Obama administration's debt debacle by laying blame for its foundations on the previous office.

Any debt can be crippling; continuing to add to it in the name of progress is destructive. We can blame a long line of administrations for spending money that they don't have, as well as money that was entrusted to them by the citizenry. Bush didn't write the book on this, nor did Clinton, nor Obama.

President Obama has often pointed fingers at Bush and whined about the sorry state of the books when he took over. If the nation's finances are such a mess, adding to the deficit and debt is the worst thing we can do, no matter how ideallic or utopian the cause.

Helen, first let me say this about Obama's spending:

The stimulus was far too small. Economists said this from the get-go. But, the stimulus that WAS passed has actually HELPED the economy. I know it's hard to tell by listening to the media's deficit-doomsdayers. But even the American Enterprise Institute (conservative think tank) says the stimulus added 4 percentage points to US growth, and the economy would have contracted by 1 point without it.

Government spending CAN stimulate the economy during recessions. WWII spending proved this.

Now--let's look at past spending. Notice that every Democratic administration since 1945 has DECREASED the size of the national debt, relative to the GDP. And every Republican president since Nixon has INCREASED the size of the debt, relative to the GDP.

Republicans get in office and spend like drunken sailors. Then the next Democratic administration comes in, and all of the sudden the media starts parroting the GOP's deficit-doomsday chicken little act.

But luckily for your side and unfortunately for Americans, Barack McCain Hoover Obama is falling in line like the weakling he is.

Pink Slip

Please provide facts to back that statement up.

I hate to say it, slip, but there you go again!

Reagan, Bush, Bush, Cheney/Reagan, Bush, Bush, Cheney/Reagan, Bush, Bush, Cheney/Reagan, Bush, Bush, Cheney/Reagan, Bush, Bush, Cheney/Reagan, Bush, Bush, Cheney/Reagan, Bush, Bush, Cheney/Reagan, Bush, Bush, Cheney/.......try it this way:

Reagan, Bush, Bush, Cheney....
pink slip isn't very brainy.
Bush, Bush, Cheney, Reagan....
Yell it, slip-yell it again!
Bush, Cheney, Reagan, Bush....
one, two, three and push!
Reagan, Bush, Bush, Cheney....
flush slippers' drivel down the drainey!

now there's some serious conservative brain matter hard at work.

Live long and prosper. Fill the country with your offspring
to help pay for all this.
