Parallels to FDR's treatment of Business in the 30s

Just read an interesting op-ed piece in Bloomberg by Amity Shlaes that draws parallels between what the Federal Govt is doing to business now and what FDR and company did to business in the 1930's. This is worth the read. Here is the link:

She says that gov't spending backed off in the late 30's. Actually it decreased due to pressures from the GOP to balance the budget which led to the 1937-38 "depression within a depression". Then FDR increased spending again, and GDP grew and unemployment dropped--before WWII spending began.
