ABC, NBC, And CBS: Still Hoping "Climategate" Just Goes Away!

After two weeks, they still follow the Party dictum-in spite of overwhelming evidence of bogus tests, etc. and basically nothing even resembling proof of man-made global warming. See this:

Bozell Defends Networks’ Silence on ClimateGate:
“Maybe They Just Don’t Know”

Alexandria, VA – For the fourteenth straight day, the three broadcast networks have failed to report on the great and growing ClimateGate scandal on their weekday morning or evening news programs. How to explain this?

Perhaps it is that ABC, NBC and CBS have not yet heard of the story, despite two weeks of non-stop reporting on and discussion of ClimateGate in a whole host of media outlets.

Perhaps the broadcast networks only trust their fellow liberal press outlets, like the New York Times. Perhaps they don’t realize the Times exhibited journalistic diligence on ClimateGate, with a front page story the day the story broke.

In the event that ABC News, NBC News and CBS News missed the news, the Media Research Center (MRC) is today rushing each of them a copy of the Times story, in the hopes that armed with this new information, they will finally report a story that has been roiling nearly everywhere else for a fortnight.

So as not to offend the networks’ pro-global warming sensibilities, MRC President Brent Bozell is looking to have the stories delivered by bicycle messenger.

Bozell:

“Ignorance is no excuse under the law, but maybe we should stop criticizing and start showing compassion for NBC, ABC and CBS and their neglect of the huge ClimateGate story. We are more than happy to help rectify their knowledge deficit – via a network-friendly source and in an as environmentally-friendly a way as possible.

“We think that once the networks read the story of ClimateGate in their vaunted New York Times, they’ll feel compelled to report it themselves.

“We very much look forward to seeing the fruits of their labor.” "

What are they AFRAID of-other than being permanently labeled as the most gullible, and rather stupid examples of the propaganda ministry of the left wing in this country?

A few thoughts from someone who is not a global warming zealot, who believes a healthy dose of skepticism is useful, and who questions the extent to which human activity is related to any temperature rises in the past 150 years (or if we can even reverse any global warming if it does exist at perilous levels):

1. There is no conspiracy by the aforementioned news organizations. A quick search on their websites indicates that there has been sh'loads of coverage of Climategate since the story broke; here are just a few:

2. Perhaps the reason why you think the other networks are not covering this story is that you rely on biased sources who tell you this. Personally, I have seen this story covered by every major network and newspaper. Just because Sean Hannity screams "conspiracy" doesn't make it so. If there is any bias, it would be on the right, especially with sites like the Drudge Report, which has been relentless in putting Climategate stories as the top headline for weeks now.

I'm not a big conspiracy theorist. Nor am do I deny that the globe has warmed. I am more inclined to believe it a natural phenomenon.

But I must dispute your account. The verbage of the email clearly states that their is no warming and that by mixing in other data it masks the decline.

Either way you look at it this is a scientific travesty. Other scientists have skewed data on other issues to support their hypothesis and have been summarily shunned by their peers. In this case the knee jerk reaction was to rally around the scientists in question.

The Global Warming theory is just that, a theory. When scientists stop trying to prove/disprove the theory based on the facts then it's no longer science, it's science fiction.

"The verbage of the email clearly states that their is no warming"

I'm not quite sure where you get your info, but those emails do nothing of the sort.

Pink Slip

To quote the email

"The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t."

let's look at this again.

lack of warming What is another way of wording lack of warming? How about no warming?

Are you denying the email states this?

...and in yet another email they say they have to "hide the decline" which I will concede doesn't necessarily mean "no warming" but definitely shows that global warming science may not be "settled".

MikeyA

He was referring to measuring short-term data, like from one year to the next. It makes more sense if you actually read it in context. That's the problem with hacked emails. Deniers are picking quotes out of context and misinterpreting them (purposely, in many cases).

In your second example, "hiding the decline" was a reference to replacing tree-ring data with more accurate temperature data. Hmmm...using more accurate data--what a concept.

Pink Slip

But neither of your explanations show that my assertion of "no warning" was untrue and it actually reinforces my original point that currently scientists do not see any warming and are skewing the data to fit their hypothesis.

MikeyA

There may be "no warming" from one year to the next, and the long term pattern is still warming. See my dozens of references on the difference between short-term, localized weather vs. climate. If 1998 or 2005 happened to be the warmest year on record, then obviously 2007 would be cooler. However the climate can still be warming. Notice that the last decade was the hottest on record. Does this clear it up?

Pink Slip

I'm not sure what a global warming "zealot" is, as opposed to someone who supports accepted scientific consensus.

That being said, G-man---the networks don't cover the "bigfoot" story either. That would be a comparable "conspiracy."

Pink Slip

Anthropogenic Global Warming is a FRAUD.

It's junk science....

Face it pink...you've been conned...either willingly or not....and you are now only tying to save face....which is even more comical...

it'll be interesting to see if all those corporations who bought carbon credits for no other reason than to make al gore's bank accounts green will sue for their money back.

I know I'd like to hear about Climategate. The Russians and Saudis are freaking out over Copenhagen and they're willing to do anything wreck it including hacking, spying and god knows what else.

Some environmental leaders have been working to minimize the scandal of ClimateGate, by focusing on the fact the hacked email archive of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit has nothing, besides a few cherry-picked quotes taken out of context, that casts a shadow of a doubt upon validity of modern climate science. They are wrong. ClimateGate is a huge scandal, probably bigger than they even imagine.

The real scandal is not the email archive, or even how it was acquired, sorted, and uploaded to a Russian server, but rather the emerging evidence of a coordinated international campaign to target and harass climate scientists, break and enter into government climate labs, and misrepresent climate science through a sophisticated media infrastructure on the eve of the international climate talks.

One leaked archive could have been the result of an aggrieved staff member or rogue hacker, out to grind a political axe or wreak revenge upon a colleague. However, the University of Victoria was targeted in a similar attack, when two people disguised as network computer technicians attempted to penetrate the security of the facility and access the data servers of the Canadian Centre for Climate Modeling and Analysis. When challenged by an employee, the two individuals fled the scene. The network penetration effort was confirmed by University spokespeople in the National Post and was reported by Kevin Grandia...

To paraphrase Carl Sagan, “If the history of the Earth could be condensed into a movie that lasted exactly one year (8,760 hours), the last twenty to thirty seconds of the movie would depict recorded history”

I doubt even these scientists have any real idea whether these "climate changes" are normal, cyclical changes or not.

But you can bet, not only is Al Gore making a lot of money peddling it, but a bunch of scientists depend on it for their careers.
