Rep. Watchmann: Enough Political Pandering, Ohioans Demand Action

Public Disapproval of Inaction While Democrats Silence Real Solutions

COLUMBUS— State Representative Lynn Wachtmann (R- Napoleon) issued the following statement in response to a recent Quinnipiac University poll finding that the Ohio Legislature has a 47 percent disapproval rating:

“As a lawmaker, my colleagues and I have been charged with the responsibility to do what is right for Ohioans. Inaction and partisanship in light of the state’s economic turmoil is inexcusable. The right thing for Ohio is to provide real solutions that prevent burdensome tax increases to families, while promoting job creation and a healthy business environment.

House Democrats have silenced all Republican ideas and remain committed to temporary solutions with long-term repercussions. It is irresponsible to ignore the future consequences of tax increases proposed by the Democrats such as House Bill 318, a clear marching order from Governor Strickland.

Ohioans are outraged with the inaction of addressing the problems we face today and the perseverance at which the Democrat agenda is catered to. A recent Quinnipiac University poll shows that the Legislature has a 47 percent disapproval rating from Ohio’s citizens. This is unacceptable and it is long past due for the Republican solutions to be given proper consideration so we can bring Ohio back into prosperity.”
