Brian Wilson gone from WSPD

I am hearing from some other bloggers that there is going to be big changes at WSPD.
Has anyone else heard anything?

Yes BIG changes. Scott Sloan is comming back to cohost a show with Mark Standruff...or not.

I heard he's going to be replaced by Gordon Liddy(known irreverently by some, as The G-Man).

Brian Wilson has done a lot to pull the wool back from the eyes of Toledoans that here-to-fore could not see the forest for the trees.

WSPD should be commended for performing this public service of exposing the political ineptness in Toledo.

The East Coast Carpet Bagger will hopefully be moving on as he usually does. His sarcastic acidic arrogant personality has done much damage to Toledo's standing in the country. Those that blame local government have only to look at WSPD for the twisted Toledo news reports sent out to all of Brian's national contacts. Constant harping maniacal propaganda are a constant from the so called "News Station." Hopefully for Toledo's image sake this troubled individual leaves the area and Fred can be himself without all the nastiness.

Brian Wilson is not the be-all, end-all that is necessary for Toledo's resurrection but Toledo certainly has been woken from it's traumatic slumber by the pointed commentary from WSPD.

Mr Liberty the commentary is race baited hate filled extreme propaganda. Their is no balance to what is being said on the station just who can say the most outrageous remarks for ratings sake. Hitler found an audience in the late 1920s after the Weimar Republic tried to rescue the economy from a failed war. Do you not see the similarities?

Hitler initially captured his audience by speaking in vague generalities of the greatness of Germany and the German people. He then moved on later to the more specific. He blamed the Jews for the decline of Germany.

WSPD is quite specific at the outset about who and what are the causes for the decline of this city and lack of economic recovery in Toledo. They appear to spare no one.

on vacation and this is not the first time rumors like this have come out. Time will tell. I hope he does not go.

if 'Temperance Tom' can direct readers to a source where 'other bloggers' are commenting on this.

I wish they would bring back Franz.

I could use a day off, I'm all for it. By the way when I'm on vacation next week don't start any rumours that I have been fired or quit.

I hope the "trends" look good for you. lol

Clear Channel is watching them c-l-o-s-e-l-y!

just wanted to share some joy, that's all.

good job, btw :)

Is Ron Tindall (sp?) still around??? I miss not hearing recipes and household cleaning tips in the afternoons... also, maybe Art Berry has some offspring who could broadcast from local stores

Thanks for the blast from the past, makinTV. God bless Ron Tindall: here's an archived Blade article from 1977 describing Tindall's move to the 6-10 pm slot.

The writer, the venerable Norman Dresser, described Tindall's show as a "format of telephone chatter, guest interviews, and playing the platters."

I remember Ron being about the nicest guy on the planet, though his somewhat nasally voice and interest in handy home tips were about as exciting to me as watching an Indy car race against a Soviet-era tractor.

I can kiss you for offering that link

so nostalgic to flip thru the pages of the old school papah!

I mean, Centre Supermarkets? COME ON!!!

thanks!

I hate to see local hosts lose their jobs, but I just couldn't take Brian. Listening to Brian is like voluntarily pounding your head against the wall. He was the wrong choice for this market. There is no way clear channel would bring in a Liberal, but a Moderate host (like Denny and Fred used to be) will have an audience in this area.

I like you Fred but Brian has influenced you too much. I stopped listening to you every day b/c it puts me in a bad mood before I go to work. I'd rather listen to Mike and Mike and have some fun. Sorry but it's the truth.

Fred I don't know fish4 but I'm sure there are more out there that see WSPD in the same light as us. Come on we need more of you to speak up!

Must be millions of you out there which is why there are so many other choices on the dial. Good luck to all of you in finding a place your'e happy with. That's what makes this country so great. You don't need to force WSPD to change to suit you, you can just go somewhere else. I love freedom of choice.

LOL

"but a Moderate host (like Denny and Fred used to be) '

LOL I laugh cuz I remember all the ToledoTalkers calling Denny a Right wing extremist because he substituted for Glenn Beck.

MikeyA

Denny was a flaming liberal before Fred straightened him out. Fred was the brains behind Denny's show.

"I'd rather listen to Mike and Mike and have some fun"

This is what is wrong with the people of this city, they just wanna have fun, meanwhile you have no clue what's really going on with our city officials. Then when they pull that lever to vote, they just go eany meany miny mo, without knowing the facts.

Go ahead and let Mike & Mike influence you, but do us all a LeFabvre and don't vote.

Since we're talking about about old time talk show hosts, is Harold Salverda still around? There's one the libs would salivate at the thought of being back.
