Help Make A Change in Toledo - Before June 30!!!!

*Dear Supporter,*

* *

*We really need your help this week.*

The first major fundraising deadline of our campaign will arrive at midnight
on June 30th – this upcoming Tuesday. The total amount of money we have
raised to engage our opponents in this race will be made public shortly
thereafter. The media, our critics, our opponents - they will all be looking
at these numbers to gauge our viability, momentum and the enthusiasm of our
supporters.

* *

*There are a lot of people out there who want to be able to say that Ben is
not a “serious contender.” Only you can prove them wrong.*

Our opponents can count on a few fat donations from wealthy political
players and special interests to fill their bank accounts and finance their
broad campaign efforts. *This means more of the same old politics* – a
system completely averse to the progressive vision of change and open
government we all share.

The good ol’ boys of Toledo’s political past and present don’t trust us. But
that doesn’t matter. Ben doesn’t work for them. He works for you.

And we need you to put Ben over the top.

* *

*Please go to http://www.konop4mayor.com/index.php?act=donate3 and make a
donation of $10 or more to help us show the “big money” candidates how many
people want leadership that can really change the system. Your donation will
allow us to run the kind of campaign we need to win this election.*

Thank you for all that you do,

Karli Wallace

I say no

Does he promise to serve a full term as mayor and not leave to run for US rep. !?

Will the Blade endorse him?!

Will he mindlessly vote for anything the union tells him to!?

He's like the dream Toledo candidate.

MikeyA

Nah - that pompous little *sshole. He's already over the top.

That little socialist needs to go away, and the sooner the better.

I don't think so. Although Ben has supported several issues that I believe are important, he supports them for all the wrong reasons: publicity.

young Ben is a member of the "good ol’ boys of Toledo’s political past and present", Karli. His hooks with the Dems water down his "new"ideas and his rush to reinvigorate politics at the expense of learning how to work in a cooperative legislative manner combine to create nothing more than an immature, power climbing pol. He should honor his term fulfillment promise as county commissioner before seeking new elective office. Learning to listen would be helpful as well. His opportunisitic politicization of the 4" water main/hydrant issue is right out of the Carty/Dems playbook. This city needs mature and dependable leadership and, sadly Ben is just neither.

Konop's plea for campaign contributions or something bad will happen is no different than 1987 when Oral Roberts said if people didn't give him $8 million, he would die.

And didn't Opal's premonition of doom come to pass? No money to fill potholes and pay police and firemen. The Children of the corn have emerged from their slumber and are punching out 85 -year-old men, knocking people off of their bikes, and taunting police officers.
Our neighborhoods have flooded! A plague of mosquitoes attacks us each dusk! Everyone is jobless!
Terror! Scorpians!
And the Carty - Beelzebub connection is all too clear.
Carty Gets Results.
Opal Saves.

Opal promised us a riverfront carnival. Carty gives us a circus and eternal damnation.

ah!

Ah, it does my heart good to see all the SB'ers out here at least being able to agree that this guy's a total loser.

Maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel for Toledo yet!

You took the words right out of my mouth. On this we can agree. :=)

Are you just making a point, or do you support Opal?

I dont know if I go along with what you're saying, IF you are saying it's an If "A" then "B" type of situation

I think that if we'd have elected either Opal OR Carty the city'd have gone to hell - which it did.

The sheeple of toledo did their usual, and elected the guy with the "D" behind his name because that's what their party told them to do - completely ignoring past history.

It had nothing to do with Opal.

Billy,

I was joking...I am not an "Opal for Mayor " supporter; however, I do give her a lot of credit for exercising her citizenship, though she doesn't have the experience/credential's necessary for the mayoral throne.

The economic situation of the city cannot be simplified in an A or B situation, as you point out--there are just too many factors involved, and many of them are on the federal and international policy levels. I CAN trace some blame to NAFTA, and then speculate that Dole may not have endorsed that legislation if he were in office, as Clinton did.

The sheep of Toledo did do their usual...but I'm not so sure, though, that they just look for that D...the Democratic Party puts up candidates with name recognition (perhaps because there are so many family names, etc...that keep ending up in the political machine), and the Republicans don't seem to get the candidate with cross-party appeal to draw votes...I think the last time that happened was when Donna Owens was elected.

The Conservative show needs to find and groom a superstar (without a history of passing bad checks!), who will appeal to a broad section of Toledoans. Opal is not our it girl...

from your past postings I'd thought we were pretty much on the same page, but I got a bit concerned when I read

You took the words right out of my mouth. On this we can agree

from another poster - I'd hoped you were kidding, and your explanation is spot on - for both the Dem's AND the Repub's. In this town BOTH parties are tainted and there still are WAY too many people who vote based on nothing more than the letter that is behind someone's name rather than listening to what they have to say.
