Since May 2nd, Dave Schulz from Citizens Organized to Bring Reform and
Accountability (C.O.B.R.A), Tom Waniewski from Toledo City Council District
5 and Lindsay Webb from Toledo City Council District 6, as well as scores of
staff and volunteers have worked diligently to reach registered voters. In
just over four full weeks of circulating, more than 7,000 people signed the
Nine is Fine petitions.
If certified to the ballot, the Nine is Fine plan would bring change this
election cycle. The plan calls for only 3 people to be elected at-large this
year for a two year term. After the 2010 census, the apportionment board
would meet and decide which districts should be coupled together to form a
“super-district.” Then in 2011, when the district seats are up for
election, 3 new super-districts would be up for election too.
C.O.B.R.A., Webb and Waniewski will be delivering the signed and notarized
petitions to the Clerk of Council, Gerald Dendinger at 11 a.m. at One
Government Center.
