Ward Welcomes Clark to Campaign for City Council At-Large

Toledo, OH – The race for city council continues to increase with over two dozen people obtaining petitions to get on the ballot.

Ward asserts, “I am excited about all the candidates who are entering the fray for city council. Toledo is currently in a crisis, in a desperate need of transformation. I commend Mr. Clark and all those who are willing to take a step forward in a time such as this. This will provide more options for the citizens of Toledo in their quest for change.”

Stephen Ward is a candidate for Toledo City Council. He officially announced his candidacy on Thursday, April 30. He believes in taking a Servant Leadership approach to government.

Ward states, “No longer can important decisions be made with too little input from the citizens who will be affected by those decisions. The greatest leader forgets himself, and attends to the development of others. I am sensitive to the fact that we are living in a time of famine in which there are some residents who are only a paycheck away from being homeless. Therefore, I promise you that I will run a 'no monetary donation' campaign. I pledge to you that I will not take money from special interest groups or the citizens of Toledo. Furthermore, I will willingly take a 20% pay cut by donating that portion of my city council salary back to the city to help with the financial crisis that Toledo is in. It is not fair to lay off city employees and cut salaries, if the city leaders won't first take pay cuts. Therefore, I challenge my fellow council candidates to also lead by example, by joining myself in donating 20% of their council salary back to the city if elected.”
