7 Council candidates at Sanger library tonight 6/1 - a brief report

The Teamwork Toledo six came to this Children of Liberty event. Each ot them spoke briefly. Candidate Steven Ward spoke too. Hosts Scott and Ann Allegrini each spoke about the COL group, saying it has 170 members now on its website. Kevin Milliken spoke as leader of the 6 teamwork Toledo candidates. He said the group has examined the City parks $ 20 million budget . They think they are significant cuts to be made there to solve the current deficit. The city parks could be combined with the county Metroparks for further savings in manpower and services. Milliken said mayor Finkbeiner should sit down with the Police and Fire unions for direct negotiations, and not use a 3rd party negotiator. He said these direct talks should be held until an agreement is reached, that in Toledo's history some of the best agreements were made during tough economic times.
Each of the six gave a brief bio of their work , neighborhood , and vision for the city.
Their bio's are posted at www.teamworktoledo.com. Several spoke of serving the people , not being politcians, or limited government , less regulation.
The crowd of about 50 asked several questions, from the size of city council to role of government.
The other five candidates are John Adams, Ty Daniels , Mike Watson, David Washington. Tricia Lyons was ill and not present.
