Moody Demands Transparency

Clarifies Actions

On Thursday, May 28th, Jim Moody, candidate for Mayor of Toledo, made a resolution before the executive committee of the Lucas County Republican Party that, in effect, requested the Secretary of State to conduct an investigation with regards to the appointment of Patrick Kriner to the Lucas County Board of Elections. Although Jim Moody serves on the LCRP Executive Committee, he did not participate in setting the agenda. Jim Moody did participate in a public vote that subsequently passed with approximately 53 members voting in favor and 10 voting against or abstaining. Following is an open letter with regards to that action.

5/29/2009

Yesterday, I was presented information suggesting that an appointment to the Board of Elections violated open meeting standards determined by the Ohio Revised Code and other sources. As a result of that information, I determined, through my own volition, that further investigation, and perhaps actions, needed to be taken.

When I decided to run for mayor, I pledged that a Moody Administration would be open and transparent. I believe that for too long, too many deals were made in the proverbial ‘smoke filled back room" reminiscent of old-style Chicago politics. Transparency and forthrightness must occur even if it means cleaning ‘our own house' first. If I make an error, I want to error on the side of caution.

There has been some suggestion that this resolution was the result of some sort of ‘quid-pro-quo'. Nothing was asked nor anything promised with regards to this action. This is about transparency and leadership.

Transparency...it's how government was meant to be.

Sincerely,

Jim Moody
Candidate for Mayor

Interesting that Jim Moody would jump to the conclusion that there needed to be an investigation, he must be being spoon fed by Jon Stainbrook. Keep drinking the kool aid mr. moody, you should have done a little investigating of your own prior to making either a resolution or nomination. Had you done this you would have known the problems you were facing.

When is Moody going to put to bed the rumors he is a resident of Sylvania and shouldn't be running for mayor in the first place. If he pulls this off, maybe the President of Iran will be running for President of the United States in 2012. If he admits where he really lives that would be transparency.
