The Marina District will have a major breakthrough on Friday? - Update

The details of the deal are even better than what was heard earlier this past week. Read more about it n the Blade today:

Toledo Marina District financing package completed

The long-awaited Toledo Marina District project has a road, a boat dock, and a dockmaster. By the end of the year, it could have a sprawling waterfront park.

Developer Larry Dillin said Friday he has assembled a private investor group that will provide $3.6 million to buy 58 acres of the 128-acre site in East Toledo, and that construction could start on the waterfront park by July.

I heard this from a source, who is reliable but I have not confirmed it. On Friday there will be a big announcement on the Marina District about $5 million financing as well as matching money from the Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission for the Marina District. I thought it may be dead given the recent developments, but this could possibly breath new life into the District if it is true.

The money is for Phase 2 and will pay for more walkways, lighting, a 1200 seat amphitheater, small vistas, and a connecting walkway to the Docks.

I would have to say if this is true, this is good news for the Marina District.

what good is it with the rest of the marina district in financial limbo?

They're playing this bluff to the end, Hooda. The USA is having the most massive crash in real estate in all the nation's history, and they're still trying to build this monstrosity in East Toledo. 2009 and 2010 will see a massive crash in commercial real estate (the banks not being able to hide it any longer), and so we should see this Marina District nonsense finally collapse during the start of the new mayor's administration. And that might well be the aim, like with those two fuckhead UT professors and their lawsuit -- to make it all either look good or just get delayed so that the next election isn't marred with the reality of our economic crash and overall political incompetence.

10 years in the making.

If I moved this slow I would be out of a job.

On a very sad day for the nation, we were told that the best thing we could do was keep on going about our lives, because to not do so was what our enemies wanted. So we went ahead with an election that was to be held that day, and on 9/11/2001, we voted to give the marina district the green light.

Carty gets things done? Not so much. Remember how much money he wasted on the MLK bridge? Yeah, its' done, but how long did it take and how much over budget was it?

"Carty gets things done?"

Yeah, like the steamplant.
