2009-05-27 7:00 pm

WHO: Teamwork Toledo

WHAT: Public Forum

WHEN: Wednesday May 27, 2009
7 p.m.

WHERE: Chester Zablocki Senior Center,
Central & Lagrange Streets

WHY: To Hear from Citizens About Crime Concerns,
Police Layoffs

Teamwork Toledo will kick off a city-wide summertime listening tour with a public forum on crime concerns on Wednesday, May 27, 7 p.m. at the Zablocki Senior Center. All six city council candidates who represent Teamwork Toledo will be in attendance.

The aim of the public forum is to not only hear from citizens who may fear for their safety in light of recent police layoffs. Teamwork Toledo also wants to hear from neighborhood leaders how residents are stepping forward and standing up to help.

The coalition of city council candidates also is extending a special invitation to laid-off Toledo police officers to the public forum, so they have a chance to also voice their concerns and how the layoff is affecting them personally and professionally.

“If our city’s mayor won’t listen to our laid-off police officers, we certainly want them to know we will,” said Kevin Milliken, a member of Teamwork Toledo. “We can’t afford to wait until the oath of office in January to roll up our sleeves and find a way to get those brave men and women back on the beat. School lets out for the summer in the next week: our children and families are too important to let this go on much longer.”

Teamwork Toledo consists of six first-time candidates—30 and 40-something professionals and small business owners, like-minded individuals who want to reclaim city government on behalf of its citizens. Teamwork Toledo is a group of fiscal conservatives with a social conscience.

Teamwork Toledo stands for three basic principles: no new taxes, back-to-basics government, and a business-friendly community. Teamwork Toledo seeks to restore a common-sense approach to city government. The six candidates who comprise Teamwork Toledo are John Adams, Jr., Ty Daniels, Tricia Lyons, Kevin Milliken, David Washington, and Michael Watson. ####

Teamwork Toledo have a website yet? I'd like to contact them - read up on their platform, discuss volunteer opportunities, talk about yard signs, etc...

I imagine when they are addressing 6 different candidates assimilating all their information may be difficult. They have an address but it asks you to login but I do not see where you can register. There is a Facebook Group here which you can join and ask questions;
