I would also use the link feature to supply the link to the original work of various newspapers and use quote marks and italics when using their writings in my blog; I feel that the link to the original work and putting their words in italics and quotations was acceptable attribution.

I may have, in personal emails or letters to friends, and early on in blogs (rarely) - but the latter was not to purposely take credit for somebody else's writing, it was done in haste, if at all - and I know I'd never do that for something important.
