Teamwork Toledo - To Urge Toledo City Council to Reject Fire Fee

2009-05-24 2:00 pm

WHO: Teamwork Toledo

WHAT: Press Conference

WHEN: Sunday May 24, 2009
2 p.m.

WHERE: Outside Government Center

WHY: To Urge Toledo City Council to Reject Fire Fee

Teamwork Toledo will discuss its collective opposition to a fire fee to be voted on by Toledo City Council at a press conference on Sunday, May 24, 2 p.m. in front of One Government Center. The entire slate of six independent council candidates oppose the fee, which could have a detrimental effect on city residents and businesses.

The fire fee represents a revenue enhancement which goes against Teamwork Toledo’s stance of no new taxes. There are other, more important ways to reduce the city’s budget deficit, which now stands at $15 million, according to the mayor’s office.

Teamwork Toledo will discuss the basic reasons why the fire fee is a bad idea, tell a personal story of someone who was personally billed for an accident response by the Toledo Fire Department, and urge city council to stand strong once again—as it did to reject an increase in the trash fee and a tax hike on city residents who work in the suburbs.

Teamwork Toledo stands for three basic principles: no new taxes, back-to-basics government, and a business-friendly community. Teamwork Toledo seeks to restore a common-sense approach to city government.

The six candidates who comprise Teamwork Toledo are John Adams, Jr., Ty Daniels, Tricia Lyons, Kevin Milliken, David Washington, and Michael Watson.

No votes yet

Do they have a website up and running yet? I went to their get together at Daves on Reynolds, but I'd thought it was going on till 11am, and got there after 10, but it was over.
