Police Await Statement From Trevor Casey

Toledo, OH – There is an article published in the Toledo Blade dated May 23, 2009. It was written by Blade Staff Writer Tom Troy. In this article it states that “Police Chief Mike Navarre said he has asked young Casey's mother to bring her son in, but he has not heard back from her.”

This statement by Police Chief Mike Navarre, as reported by the Toledo Blade is inaccurate.

The Casey family has not heard from Police Chief Mike Navarre. Karen Casey asserts, “I have not received a phone call or any type of communication from Chief Mike
Navarre requesting to bring my son Trevor in to speak with the Police Chief or the internal affairs investigators.”

Maybe the Casey's are waiting for Al Sharpton. He's probably busy researching any kinship between Tawana Brawley and Casey.

shame Jessie is out doing his...what's that thing that's fallen off the face of the earth?

I wish I knew, but it doesn't seem to be worthy of media coverage it seems...

leaves a lot to be desired. Thank God for other ways to get the news in this city. Swamp Bubbles, Midwest Urban, Toledo Journal, The Sojourners Truth, the Free Press, UTUBE, Facebook, Myspace. All great sources of information. I think Tom Troy originally called the assault a youth /police scuffle.

Glad that it has gone national.

Now, I don't Normally Do This But.........
(Iv'e Never Heard of SwampBubble Untile Last Week)

Tom should really re-consider on how we reports things, ofr a long time i have seen many diffrent stories and serious issues and Mr. troy has down played the situation.

OIt was very upsetting to see a memeber of the press, treat this matter as if it was a little cat fight or a arguement. This young man could have possibly died that day.

If you recall the situation where our local county sherriffs deps killed a man inside the county jail. That could have been the same case here. For GFod Sake the 14 year old 100+ lbs pasted out on the ground, and the officers were still olding his hands up past his back as if he was resisting.

We need to hold OUT OF CONTROL OFFICERS ACCOUNTABLE.....

Citizens in the city are expected to act a certain way and our goverment officials are expected to do the same, with the bar raised. There need to stet the example and set the tone.

It has been around Toledo that these two officers are Dirty Cops
They plant drugs on people
They have falsely put charges on people

Whether that is ture or not, I think we all need to just wait till all of the facts come out. Tom and other memebers of the media/press are ASKED to REPORT THE FACTS and STOP PUTTING A TWIST ON THINGS

We under stand others may need the publicity more then other but you are indirectly and directly affecting peoples lives. Have enough respect please.

and for the bloggers on here trying to attack me and my family memebers personally, well let's just say this has nothing to do with me personally, I am doing what any normal person with a hear would do when you see injustice. This has nothing to do with race or politics. I would do this for anyone

And for the record I am not a Rapper or Producer.

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

sorry....but that was hilarious

I can't wait for Trevor Casey to go to jail.

When the police start publicly arresting the out-of-control youth in Toledo is when the city will actually get safer.

MikeyA

I can't wait for Trevor & his family to win the jusice battle. & just so you know, not all teens in Toledo are out of control, nor is Toledo a bad place, as people are saying. IGNORANT PEOPLE IRRITATE ME, look into all the other articles on the internet!

of control white men who take nursing homes and women hostage for hours where they have to shut down schools, will that make the city safer?

take a man going through serious mental issues and compare that to the blatent ignorance of a community that allows it's children to run amok with no respect.

yeah, that comparison makes as much sense, you nitwit.

and before you get your panties in a bunch, by "community", purnhrt, I'm talking about the parents that won't control their children.

amazing one has to clarify the obvious anymore...

Is that an everyday occurance in the city?

MikeyA

I read the blade today, something I don't like doing.

Didn't see any white people taking over nursing homes with guns.

Read a lot about out-of-control teens.

MikeyA

If you live in Toledo, or pay attention to any news whatsoever, you would know that a Caucasian man, less than a month ago, held his estranged wife hostage in the sunset home.

Ok

Ok, I believe that.

However it's not an everyday occurance which is my point.

Out-of-control teens are an everyday occurance in the Toledo area. purnhrt was trying to say the Criminal Casey incident was an isolated incident. It is not.

BTW I do pay attention to the news. I am from and vote in Lucas County but I live in the Mojave Desert of California. Because of where I vote I follow Toledo media quite regularly. I just don't read the Bland, one of america's great bias.

MikeyA

to become so angry that you have to resort to calling names?

having interactions with normal-minded people on a regular basis, I get frustrated having to resort to dumbing things down to your level.

and dealing with you being a bitch just to be a bitch does that to me as well.

I would hate
to be in the same room with you if you really got angry in real life. Whew!

Yep....look at all the angry white people....

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

I think that the Nazi's obviously went there trying to start something. Their old enough to know how control what they do. They went into an African-American dominant neighborhood & screamed white power. come on now, that's what the Nazi's wanted.

Proved a hell of a point didnt they....

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

please tell me what point they proved

please tell me what point they proved

please tell me what point they proved

things about this case is the misinformation out there. I read a letter to the editor in today's Blade that stated that the 14 year old was standing if front of a porch. There are no porches at this housing complex.

The statement by this writer "This youth was clearly trying to mock our officer in front of his peers." This youth was not unknown to these police officers, they watched him grow up. They know his family. They know what kind of kid he is. He had on no gang clothes or colors.

I only know this information by watching the video. I don't know the family, have not spoken to any family member. If you watch the entire video you will see the sister ask the officer, "officer Dan, you did this to my little brother?" Obviously they knew this child.

...patrolling? He was standing in front of a residence where he was loitering (whatever that means). Maybe it is cultural differences. If someone sat down on my steps that I did not know I would tell them to get up, and move on (unless they gave some indication of a medical emergency, and I would call 911). I would not let them in my house since that is one way to get assaulted. I wonder if some elderly person saw this boy, thought he was up to no good, and called the cops.

Old South End Broadway

In the video I was looking for any political candidate, with street cred, going into the crowd to stop the violence.

LOL......"Street cred"....hillarious...

You missed the cops running away like little girls too eh....

Hell...LA is choked full of policitans with street cred...it STILL took the national gaurd to quell three days of rioting, assault, murder, and arson in 92'...

I said it once and I'll say it again.....thank god those two cops werent white.....there would have been riots...

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

What is street cred?

Other than one persons' opinion of another person, that is.

It's what Trevor Casey now has amongst the rest of the criminals.

MikeyA

what is this...brick wall night in the swamp?

Purnhrt just can't help herself, Billy. She is referring to an earlier thread where I mentioned that Mike Bell walked into the crowd with Jack Ford during the riot. I mentioned that Bell had street credibility because many (but obviously not all) of the rioters stopped to listen to him. Despite the fact that I posted links to other sources supporting my first-person witnessing of Bell in the crowd, purnhrt repeatedly accused me of "historical revisionism."

She obviously is interested in continuing her earlier flame wars. Good luck with that, purnhrt, as I also wish you luck with your plans to sue me.

If I were to define street credibility in a general way, I would suggest that this describes a person who commands some respect by folks who might not otherwise pay attention to an authority figure.

In the old days we described this as "street smart" versus "book smart."

I think that Trevor did NOT deserve any of this. It is nobody's fault, but the police officers. I think that if you are responsible & respectable enough to be a police officer, than you should be respactable & responsible enough to know not to beat a minor, who is fourteen years of age and at least half your size, this severly, or matter of fact, beat them whatsoever. People are so ignorant, that it irritates me, they only know what they hear, from people who obviously are not nearly as clued in on the situation as I am, I am educated on this, because since it happened I have been researching and very interested into finding out as much as I can about everything that happened. I, personally, think that Trevor & his family are very respectable people. I have high hopes that the Casey family wins the case in the court & that it is seen to for the police officers to have strict punishments for what they did to the young boy. I mean come on now, it didn't take that much just to get him to calm down, if he was being "rowdy." & also, if you watch the video carefully, you see that by the time they subdued him enough for him to hit the ground, both of his hands were already handcuffed. Well, that's an idea of what I have to say. Please feel free to debate with me, just like many people I know, because, I promise to you, I will get my point across.

Trevor tested postive for pot use....and the three other "kids" with him didnt even get a scratch....they followed a lawful order to disperse and walked away...

And once he stopped resisting...so did the so called assault...

Your ignorance is showing....

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

okay ? lots of people smoke pot, im shure you have before, or someone your close to. & Trevor also walked away, just not as fast, & as his mother said in an interview, he was up & moving, even though it may have been at his own pace.

He wasn't resisting when they subdued him, causing him to fall to the ground.

& please enlighten me with how MY ignorance is showing ?!

Because you just excused a 14 yr old smoking pot and resisting arrest...

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

I'm not excusing him for that. I understand that both of those were obviously not the right thing for him to be doing. Yet again, their are plenty of people that smoke weed, & I know some who are under the age of fourteen. & I agree that resisting arrest is a dumb choice, but you don't know how he felt, nor do I, maybe he was scared.

"maybe he was scared."

Another excuse....

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

Okay, well you do not know how he felt, nor do I. & I highly doubt that these two men couldn't have got him under control in a less violent way.

respected the commands of law enforcement instead of his pathetic rendition of "Dancing with the Stars", this wouldn't even be an issue.

So please, continue to excuse this type of disrespectful behaviour while those that are left to protect and serve you continue to get ripped by pansy-assed whiny bitches trying to excuse unlawful behaviour.

Lots of people smoke weed....so that MUST mean it's OK...at least according to Taylor

I never once implied that smoking weed was okay, I was stating the facts.

LMAO...you CLEARLY implied it was ok because "lots of people smoke pot"....

Well "lots of people dont have trouble with the law"...

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

Sorry, that I don't find smoking weed THAT serious.

"Sorry, that I don't find smoking weed THAT serious."

Now that is something worth outrage.

MikeyA

how is that worth outrage ?

I find people who find using drugs acceptable to be outrageous.

Maybe escaping reality and using substances as a emotional crutch are ok in your eyes but I'm one of those people on the fringe who don't agree.

MikeyA

Okay, well that's just another view in which our views differ I suppose.

"I think that if you are responsible & respectable enough to be a police officer, than you should be respactable & responsible enough to know not to beat a minor"

I didn't see him getting "beat" in the video. I saw him being handcuffed and subdued. His face was already bloody. The cops weren't acting out of emotion either. That tells me they were following standard procedure.

"People are so ignorant, that it irritates me, they only know what they hear"

I didn't need to hear anything. Haven't read an article on it either. I just watched the video. Which people on here are ignorant?

"since it happened I have been researching and very interested into finding out as much as I can about everything that happened."

Oh please enlighten us as to what happened.

"I, personally, think that Trevor & his family are very respectable people."

A matter of opinion. I personally believe butterflies are dangerous. See we can all have an opinion. It doesn't mean yours is better than anyone elses.

"it didn't take that much just to get him to calm down, "

Are you an expert in submission techniques and law enforcement? While I'm not an expert I am very well versed and I can say that you NEVER use different techniques because of someone's size for the sheer fact that they may have a weapon. Judging from the video I can't say there's anything I would have definitely done differently.

MikeyA

Okay, then please explain to me how his lip got busted, his nose got busted, & some of his blood vessels in his eyes got broken. Also, please explain to me, why he would tell his brother that it felt like the life was coming out of him if he didn't, pretty much, get beat ?!

You haven't read an article or heard anything, which makes you ignorant to this topic!

Do some research & read every article & watch the video, & you'll understand, for the most part what happened. I know everything that the media has released, such as the police report lied up to three times, no one knows the extra information except Trevor & the other people involved.

I never once stated that my opinion was better than anyone elses. It is also clear that that statement is an opinion because it clearly says "I, personally, think..."

I'm not an expert, that's for sure, but I just do not think that it would take as much effort as they claim it did for two grown men weighing 200+ pounds to subdue a teenager who ways 120-.

I have read most of the articles and watched the video and I understand the kid is a punk and the cops didnt use excessive force.

You are no expert...that's for sure...

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

That's an opinion! He's a punk? But, do you know him?

and he's a punk

but he also wouldn't smoke pot or taunt law enforcement while they're carrying out their duties.

nor would he lay hands on an officer placing him in restraints.

yeah, my brother may be a punk, but he certainly ain't a stupid idiot....

At least someone else on here agrees that it wasn't his fault, thanks,

Brian you're a good man but way off on this one.

Marijuana is a drug that affects your judgement so while you may believe this "but he also wouldn't smoke pot or taunt law enforcement while they're carrying out their duties." it doesn't make it true.

In fact I argue it makes it less true.

I have seen good people make choices they normally wouldn't all because of the variable of drugs and alcohol into the equation.

The fact that this young man had smoked marijuana further justifies my belief that the police acted appropriately. The criminal had something in his system that causes irrational thinking. To ASSUME he would have behaved rationally is even more irrational.

MikeyA

altho I "defined" my brother as a punk, I added in the next sentence: but he also wouldn't smoke pot or taunt law enforcement while they're carrying out their duties.

the word "also" should not have been place there.

my brother is a Marine and does not smoke pot.

my bad Brian. I read it wrong and am man enough to admit when I'm wrong.

MikeyA

but I can clearly see how that was mis-read.

my apologies for the confusion.

lol

Yep...that's called an opinion....but it's based on seeing punks just like trevor run into the street and shake their booty cuz they think you're going to stop..

Happened again tonight just a couple blocks from the house...

It's pretty funny to watch em dive for the curb though...surprising how fast they can move with their pants around their knees...

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

"Okay, then please explain to me how his lip got busted, his nose got busted, & some of his blood vessels in his eyes got broken. Also, please explain to me, why he would tell his brother that it felt like the life was coming out of him if he didn't, pretty much, get beat ?!"

He resisted arrest.

"You haven't read an article or heard anything, which makes you ignorant to this topic! "

I watched the video and made a judgement call. I do not need a reporters bias in this case to sway my opinion. I WATCHED something that is a FACT and made a decision based upon it. READING a second hand account and forming an opinion on that is more biased. I am a journalist by trade and I know how bias is formed. Hence I purposely tried not to inject anyone elses bias in my opinion. It doesn't make me ignorant it makes me unbiased.

"Do some research & read every article & watch the video, & you'll understand, for the most part what happened."

Why so I can have someone elses natural bias sway my opinion? If I need to hear someone elses opinion of an incident I can see for my own eyes before I make a judgement call than I am a fool.

"police report lied up to three times, no one knows the extra information except Trevor & the other people involved."

See I didn't read the police report either. I watched the video.

"I'm not an expert, that's for sure, but I just do not think that it would take as much effort as they claim it did for two grown men weighing 200+ pounds to subdue a teenager who ways 120-."

Well since I'm trained in security and I know you don't change protocol based on size. You restrain the person because they may have a weapon. Once it's determined they do not is when you adjust tactics. A 120lbs kid can stab a 200 lbs man just as easy as anyone else.

MikeyA

okay, so lets check into all the people who've resisted arrest, & just see how many came out looking this bad.

Nothing in the article or video swayed my opinion. Many people are saying that it is not the police's fault, and as you can see, I strongly disagree with that. I agree that they needed to use force, but definitely not as much as they did.

Okay, so let's say the young man did have a knife, or something of that sort, shouldn't police officers be wearing protective gear anyways?

"so lets check into all the people who've resisted arrest, & just see how many came out looking this bad."

This bad? I didn't see any permanent injurieds. A bloody nose, some bruises. Those are common from a scuffle which this obviously was.

"Many people are saying that it is not the police's fault, and as you can see, I strongly disagree with that."

And I don't care what others thing either. I saw the video. I made my judgements off the video.

"so let's say the young man did have a knife, or something of that sort, shouldn't police officers be wearing protective gear anyways?"

While I'm not an expert on security I am well versed in security. But I AM an expert on safety.

Personal Protective Equipment is a last resort of safety. If the criminal had a knife and stabbed them in the face a bullet proof vest does them no good. The Police Officers have a responsibility to each other to restrain, subdue, and search the suspect way before they do anything else. Once they deem the threat is neutralize or nonexistent is when they can begin to evaluate the person in a manner that doesn't take into account a unknown weapon.

MikeyA

He lost part of eyesight from his left eye, that sounds bad to me.

You made your judgment just off of the video, wow, you should learn more, just an opinion.

From what the video shows they had him restrained pretty well.

that he's restrained pretty well.

when you defy a direct police order you're going to be questioned by the police.

That means they're going to investigate you.

And during this "investigative" phase, there was an altercation. It seems that Trevor felt that she shouldn't be restrained, but unfortunately, his options were reduced when he tried to be Chuck Norris.

it's pretty simple, Taylor, and I hope you can/will follow along.

Do not provoke the police.

Trevor did.

Then attacked a police officer. No matter how wimpy this kid is, you do not strike a police officer, period.

or is that how you do things in your neighborhood?

I understand that what he did was wrong & that it shouldn't have been done, but I do not think that the amount of aggression used by the police officers was unnecessary.

"or is that how you do things in your neighborhood?"
In my neighborhood, I do not deal with the police, I am not a "troublemaker". I have been involved with the police, but for nothing serious. I have had the police approach me multiple times, when my friends would run and I would not. So, no that is not how I do things in my neighborhood.

...He lost part of eyesight from his left eye, and then you say I do not think that the amount of aggression used by the police officers was unnecessary. I presume you mean that the amount of aggression was unnecessary.

Both statements lack credibility.
First ...Where are the documents to prove that he lost eyesight in his left eye? Broken blood vessels do not imply loss of eyesight. I have been through three major surgeries on my eye for detached retinas, Retinal tears causing hemmoraging and Cataract surgery in both eyes over the past two years. I know what I speak here.

Second...you have no evidence except hearsay that the actions of the police and perceived aggression caused his injuries. All you have is a cell phone video after the fact. For all I know he fell down on the concrete while doing his little jig while high on pot in front of the Police. And even if he didn't, once he resisted arrest and assaulted the officers he got the normal treatment for a Felony against a law enforcement officer.

Your bucket holds no water.

If man has no tea in him, he is incapable of understanding truth. ~Japanese Proverb

I said that it was wrong when I first learned of the situation, thanks.

glad I stopped by the Swamp before I went to bed. Lively conversation. Now tell me where did you get this information? """""Trevor tested postive for pot use....""""
was it on the the news, in the Blade, who released this information?
I don't believe you for one minute.
Children can be irritating but what is more irritating is white men taking a nursing home hostage, shooting three people for no reason, killing their wives and unborn children.

The news channel said that Trevor admitted to smoking marijuana before the incident occured.

The post about the teens beating up the elderly proves my point that out-of-control teens are a common problem.

"what is more irritating is white men taking a nursing home hostage, shooting three people for no reason, killing their wives and unborn children."

Please explain how one instance makes this a common problem?

MikeyA

Drop the racist crap will ya...white man this...white man that...it dont play with me....

The biggest problem the black communtiy has is black on black crime...

It was posted right here on this website...

Quote:
"The police report said the boy admitted to smoking marijuana before the incident."

A simple drug test can confirm or deny this...

Also this "child" has allready been in trouble before:

Quote:
David Casey said his brother has had minor involvement with the police but not for anything serious.

Ofcorse...this is some "white guy's" fault too I suppose...

I swear...you all look the other way when poison is peddled to your children in the form of music and pop culture and the bling Gangsta life style...then look to point fingers when your "chickens come home to roost"...

It's allways "the man"...

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

the latest incident of black on black crime in Toledo was the brutalization of a black 120 lb,14 year old boy by two black 350lb adult men, sworn to protect and serve. In case you haven't seen the video it is being played across America.

LOL

350lbs men. LOL you must be joking to make such a ridiculous claim.

MikeyA

All the reports, except the police report, claim that Trevor was a mere 120- lb. to these two 200+ lb. men. Not 120 & 350.

That explains why you don't know about the out of control white men in Toledo shooting, taking hostages and killing their wives, children and shooting their neighbors.
Being in the Mohave Desert may have fried your brain.

so

So it happens every day?

Wow Toledo got violent since I left.

MikeyA

MikeyA, BrianInFl, Z., et al.

You can't win this one with logic. You won't even begin to sway the emotional anti-police crowd with logical arguments. You've got to give your posts more of a PMS flavor. For instance, MikeyA wrote: Please explain how one instance makes this a common problem? which he knows can't be done, but which is an excellent point none the less. Now, what MikeyA could have said is something like this:

You dirty minded human hate machine! You take one single little bitty mistake and make a big racist federal case out of it, then you go and want to steal funding from our schools to build more liquor stores and payday loan places. We need that school money, because how else are you going to keep the kids off the street? I, for one, and I'm unanimous in this, am not going to put up with your insults any more. You're like that ice cream man that comes by playing your music at dinner time and gets the kids away from the table.

See? Now you guys try it. I'm going to have a perfect Manhattan and watch the idiot box.
