APPARENT POLICE BRUTALITY
Toledo Police Officers Beat Up 14-Year-Old Teenager

Toledo, OH – On Friday, May 15 at the Brand Whitlock housing projects in South Toledo, 14-year-old Trevor Casey was brutally beaten by two officers of the Toledo Police Department. On Monday, May 18 at 5:15 PM, Stephen Ward along with the family of Trevor Casey will speak about this injustice.

Ward will present a plan for the citizens of Toledo to monitor the actions of the Toledo police, and take a proactive approach to bridging the communication and lack of trust between citizens and the police. Ward asserts, “Not all police are bad. We have some officers who I personally know and commend for their efforts in serving Toledo. But, we also have some officers that do the city no justice at all. They use the badge and authority of the office to commit crimes. These are the rogues who must quickly be identified, and held accountable for their actions.”

The altercation involving Trevor Casey was caught on tape and it clearly shows one officer covering the mouth of the victim. In the video it shows Casey's face covered with blood to the point where he is almost unrecognizable. Police officers are trained on how to properly subdue without using excessive force.

Trevor Casey may way about 120 pounds, if that. Yet, in the video footage it is clear that the two officers in question may way over 200 pounds...there is no justifiable reason why these officers conducted themselves in the manner that they did. Ward states, “This is beyond a tragedy. I understand the moral of the Toledo police may be low, and their stress levels elevated due to the recent layoffs. However, police are to protect and serve the citizens. This is another time in which the trust and respect between the police and citizens have been breached.”

other side of the story? Sure the pictures look incriminating but do they tell the story of what happen or just show the end results? If after investigation, the officers are found guilty of abuse then speaking out against injustice may be warranted. But until I hear the other side of the story and can make a determination of what went down I will not jump to conclusion and chastised our Boys in Blue.

I can hear it now..."Can't we all just get along?"

late last night on YouTube, I did not know what to do. I tried to contact the poster to get more of the story before I posted. I have seen that it has hit the news, Fox Toledo and NBC 24 have stories on it.

Also fellow blogger Ass Hole Lawyer posted on it:
http://copsandlawyers.blogspot.com/2009/05/cops-subdue-young-teen.html

We will see what happens.

The point being that if the officers are going to be accused of Police brutality based on an after the fact video of what occurred then I can just as easily make the assumption that this 14 year old kid was some little Gang Banger taking advantage of the police layoffs ("75 down they own this town") and who made threating remarks to the Police Officers. They reacted in the way they were trained when their safety is at risk. It doesn't matter if the recipient of the Police action is 14 or 41 years old when a Cops life is threatened. If you want to play in the Majors step up to the plate and expect a fast ball! I want to hear the whole story and for the truth to come out.

For Stephen Ward to make the conclusion and create a public outcry before the facts are known is irresponsible and he appears to be using the situation as a photo-op in his bid for City Council. Seem like he is playing right out of the Barack Obama / Rahm Emmanuel handbook...“Never let a serious crisis go to waste …”

If man has no tea in him, he is incapable of understanding truth. ~Japanese Proverb

ok whether or not he did anything that didnt mean that they had a right to beat him and choke him. his face was horrible. they are trained to take people down a certain way not beat the living day lights out of you. it was wrong and they should be punished. and they reacted in the wrong way.
So you mean to tell it would be ok if two police officers beat one of your family members? I think not.

If one of my family members mocked a police officer, took a swing and caught him across the chest with a pair of steel cuffs, and then attempted to spit on them, then YES... he/she would get what they ask for, that being getting their ass kicked! The police have no idea what this little punk-ass kid is capable of. Remember Keith Dressel was shot to death by a 15 year old.

But not to worry because no one in my family will ever face that situation as we were raised to respect the law (whether we agreed with them or not) and not to dis them when asked to move. My response at his age would have been to say Yes Sir and then hurry on home where I could mumble all night long how bad the cops were and hear my Dad say I got what was coming to me and if I end up in jail don't expect him to come bail my ass out! I surely would not have questioned their authority by talking shit like some little disrespectful Gang-Banger wannabe getting his rocks off.
Chances are if this kid would not have assaulted the police he would have sat cuffed in the back of the squad car for a little while, read the third degree then released to the custody of his parents. Instead he got mouthy, took a swing which automatically constituted an assault, a violation of the law and the Police treated him like any other violent offender. His age and size were irrelevant at that point.

time for your education, "bias-boy".

You really think the police are trained to "take people down" a certain way?

I'm interested in your credentials to back your claim.

Shoot your ignorance out for all to see and think you're going to get a free pass?

We know why you're here.

That training is for when the "suspect" is in compliance. Get your facts straight.

If you hit a cop your going to get your ass kicked.
Its not rocket science and considering the area that kid was in I'm sure its something that he was well aware of.
As its already been said here, Keith Dressel was shot by a 15 year old so being 14 doesn't get your a pas to act like an idiot and take a swing on a police officer.

Keep in mind also that even very small facial and head wounds can bleed like crazy. You could find someone who looks like they are bleeding to death and when you clean away the blood you end up finding a small cut that doesn't even require stitches.

Good the thing the cops werent white....there would have been a riot...

Were is the video evidence of the actual beating? What are the official explanation for the need for restraint? Get back to me when these questions are answered.

Blatant Media Alert

Fred at WSPD will have Stephen Ward & the family of Trevor Casey on in the morning to discuss it was Carty's fault how this happened. "The kid would not have been in this situation if Carty would have activities in the city for children" or "If we didnt have the layoffs this incident would have been prevented".

This situation tragic though 1 sided there is nothing saying what caused this incident to escalate to this arrest. Until then the media did a Ready Shoot Aim in reporting.

I agree Zeitgeist, it is a great thing for the city of Toledo the officers were not white. We can count our blessings.

Looks to me like a 14 yr old got arrested. The cop was foolish to put his hand over the kids mouth simply because he could have been bitten, and the choke hold isn't used officially by most forces any longer. But hey I wasn't there and the video shows two cops trying to keep a suspect under control.
It's a shame they don't teach english in public schools anymore or at least that's the impression I'm left with after listening to the video.

Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted.

Wake up, Fred. The officer had his hand on the suspect's mouth undoubtedly since there was some spitting going on. And a choke hold is a perfectly acceptable use of force.

Anytime an arrest is made of a suspect that is unwilling, injury or unpleasantness are likely to result. Arresting people isn't pretty and there's no rational reason why anyone expects it to be pretty ... except in the case of a court justice, sadly.

I predict that the altercation started inside, or on that stair stoop, and as a result of the suspect resisting, the suspect got banged up a bit. Let's see what facts our media outlets will uncover once the arrest record is properly filed and available for public release in a day or two.

Ebonics.

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

I wish I had the ability to speak according to the lofty standard that you appear to be upholding, Zeitgeist. You see, I have some serious Southern heritage, and in spite of my best efforts, some "y'alls" and "fixin' tos" and "gonnas" and "yonders" creep into my speech sometimes.

Truth be told: my dad's side of the family has a long history of working in the coal mines. We're pretty much a bunch of transplanted rednecks, and when we get together for family reunions, some of my relatives have accents so thick as to be almost a foreign language.

That being said, I have different manners of speech for different situations (I have to catch myself from saying "sitch-ee-AY-shuns"). When I teach one of my college classes, I use a vocabulary and diction that is pretty high-fallutin', using words like "hegemony" and "transcontinental commerce" and "heterogeneous" and "historiographical metanarratives." Of course, I'm just puttin' on airs by pretending to be a perfesser, when I'm really just a coal miner and auto worker by ancestry.

(end self-deprecating deadpan)

Can you wrap your self-righetous head around a few ideas, Zeitgeist? Consider the following:

1. The young woman speaking in the video belongs to a subculture in which many members speak in this manner.
2. The young woman - like me, the coal-mining-schlep-turned-professor - might speak in several different manners or dialects. She might speak the language of the street when in the street, while speaking a form of English more palatable to your ear in school or church. I know if I walked into Brand Whitlock and started spouting some rhetoric like "postmodernist critique is really a form of the metanarrative it purports to transcend," I would be unintelligible to most of the folks I encountered.
3. I'll bet there are people in your family somewhere who do not speak English with the perfection you demand of the young woman in the video. Are you equally critical of them, or is there something about "ebonics" (an outdated and irrelevant term, BTW) that particularly irks you? Would you insist that a Pakistani ER surgeon speak the King's English before operating on you? After all, them thar foreigners really butcher the language, don't they?
4. How about people from Brooklyn, Boston, or Bangor? My God, the way they speak is pretty weird compared to our proper Midwestern accent, right? And what about the Canadians with their "DAW-lurhs" and their "g'days"? Better start demanding they speak friggin' English, too, before they start pouring over the border.
5. Finally, consider this: the oldest trick in the book to keep people "in their places" has been to put down their speech. Just as you get self-righteous about how much better you adhere to some artificial standards of English, there are people in country clubs and board rooms who find your manner of speech equally ridiculous. Before you start ripping on people with a different way of speaking, remember that there are people higher than you on the social hierarchy who use the same bullshit to keep you down, dude.

Doubt me? Your clothing, speech, and ignorance of pasttimes like baccarat, yachting, and lacrosse would give you away in nine seconds at any expensive country club in the country, and you would leave our hypothetical cocktail party either pissed, insulted, or embarassed.

Of course, you could say that you don't give a shit about some fancy-pants country club, but I bet the young woman in the video would say the same thing about the world you cherish.

Here's the really humorous part in what you posted...you have no clue how I talk....you can only see my use of syntax and grammar in textual fonts...

You are making a broad based stereo typical assumtion based upon something you cannot even personally observe..

I use the word "aint" and even use profanity quite often...I just dont use it when I'm typing all that much....

Can I ax you a kweshon?

U tink maybe I dint make up ebonics?

To excuse the malpractice in education...it's very concept is based in racism...the black fokes jus talk diffent...it's a farce...

I know lots of people of color....they dont talk that that....not that they cant...but they chose not to...

As to the young lady in question....how much harder will her road out of poverty be when she cant even use her own language?

Does James Earl Jones talk like That?

Did you know he once had a terrible studdering problem?

Does Obama? talk like that?...if he did...do you think he would have got anywhere near the oval office?

So spare me the rightious indignation ok?

Sorry - I must have mistaken you for someone with some common sense. Your post illustrates my previous points far better than I ever could, and suggests that you have some deep-seated anger about an illusory menace called "ebonics."

BTW - even in the Wiki link you provided, the term "ebonics" is noted as largely out of use. It is not used by reputable linguists or educators, and there are simply no "ebonics" programs creating the "malpractice in education" you claim. There are educators developing pedagogical strategies to better educate students who speak in dialects and vernaculars other than Standard English, but this is true of a wide variety of speech systems, not just African American Vernacular English.

Do children who grow up in a Hispanic or Serbian subculture have a "choice" in the way they are raised, or to whom they were born? Children mimic the speech of those with whom they live, and learning Standard English in school is like learning a foreign language. You can rail all you want about "choice" in language, but that will not change the fact that the young woman in the video represents many years of linguistic reinforcement in the home and in culture, while receiving a few hours a day of "proper" English in school.

Here is more on the 1996 controversy from an archived linguistics discussion group, should you care to become better informed:

http://www.linguistlist.org/topics/ebonics/

The poorly-worded 1996 Oakland resolution was amended and replaced by a 1997 resolution after the national controversy exploded in a tsunami of misinformation:

http://www.jaedworks.com/shoebox/oakland-ebonics.html

I might point out that the term "ebonics" rarely gets used these days except by misinformed talk show hosts and commentators. I might also point out that running around holering "Ebonics" when you hear someone speak in a different dialect or vernacular might be considered racist.

But I would probably be wasting my time with you by doing so. You appear to have made up your mind already that African American Vernacular is a personal choice and/or a sign of laziness.

tossing bread to pigeons historymike :)

Yet sometimes Zeitgeist makes intelligent comments, and rather than dismiss him as a typical troll, I see him as a work-in-progress.

However, I get irritated when that ridiculous "ebonics" controversy keeps getting rehashed, as if university education schools and public school boards deliberately coddle students and secretly promote an agenda of non-Standard English in schools. If nothing else, the misguided and short-lived "ebonics" resolution in Oakland fully recognized that students regularly arrive to (and often leave from) schools with speaking and writing skills that will hamper their ability to succeed in working environments that require proficiency in Standard English.

However, even though the Oakland resolution controversy ended 12 years ago, poorly-informed people like Zeitgeist keep repeating the same "ebonics" mantra, as though there is this devious conspiracy to turn public schools into incubators of non-Standard English. This is akin to the anti-immigrant folks who bristle at the idea of bilingual teachers or programs to bridge linguistic gaps: "They are in America, so speak English, goddammit" or "MY grandparents learned English - so should the Mexicans!!"

We should be working harder to develop innovative programs to improve literacy and language skills instead of thumping our chests and belittling those who speak different from those of us who can fluently navigate our way through Standard English (a chaotic language, I might add, that is one of the most difficult in the world to learn).

sometimes pigeons need bread :)

Interesting...I mention one snarky word..Obonics..you jump all over me with both feet...and I'm trolling?

Yet you didnt address a single point in my reply...you simply walked right around it...

Once again,

You have no clue how I talk....yet you made several half assed assertions, judgements, and assumtions based on speech you've never heard, ..while chest thumping your over educated profession and escape from the coal mines...

As though I'm supposed to be impressed somehow?

Ward churchill is an estemed professor...

Bill Ayres is an estemed professor...

Noam Chomsky is an estemed professor and a cunning linguist...

All useless pricks....Good company for you eh?

See...I'm a fixer....the kind of guy you have to call to get something fixed because you most likely lack the basic knowledge or will to do it for yourself...a prole...a worker bee...the kind of guy who pays your overrated salery through my taxes or having my kid in your school...

Ofcorse you would look down on me...I wouldnt expect any other attitude..I see it all the time...from doctors, lawyers, financial guru's, professors...all wizards of smart....all utterly clueless as to what I'm doing when they call me to come and fix something....

Ignorance on parade...one trick ponies...

What do you actually produce of value to your fellow man?..a lecture?..grading some papers? browbeating kids into group think?..a book?

Long winded brow beating blog posts?

"Meh"...I'm completely unimpressed and unphased...

Me?..I can build the very building you teach in...and most likey have if you teach at UT , Penta ,or Owens.

I've had a hand in everything from nuclear power plants to jet engines to your neighbors garage...

I leave a long trail of actual manipulation of reality...where there was empty ground now stands a building that keeps you warm and dry...light where there was dark....energy where there was none before...a hospital that heals the sick...an X-ray or MRI machine that diagnoses sickness....the doctors office you run to when you have the sniffles...a school where children learn....a store that feeds or clothes you...a resturant where you eat....a bridge you drive over without a single thought.....the auto plant your car came from...the house you live in...

The guy who shows up every day and gets things done , with hands that show my worth to my fellow man..all completely without your studious help or input...

Yet you couldnt do what you do without people like me...and people like me have little or no use for you....because you'd be useless on a jobsite, service call, or emergency repair...oh maybe you could push a broom...but I wouldnt let you anywhere near a 50,000 volt service....you'd kill your self or someone else...

Just another jerk with a useless degree...

You can take the redneck out of the coal mines, but you cant take the coal mines out of the redneck....

You will allways be trying to prove to yourself ( and us) how smart you are and how far you've come...

You create a legacy of leaving your name on a book or a paper or in some students mind who wont remember your name in twenty years....

I created my legacy of real things that will last a hundred years or more ,and the people who use them will never know my name...and I'm fine with that....

Tommorrow take a look around when you drive to *cough* work...and I use the term very loosely...

Every thing you touch and see was built, manufactured or assembled by a guy like me...

You have nothing of value to teach me....yet I could clearly teach you a thing or a thousand things or ten thousand things...

So I'll leave you with a quote I live by from a man much smarter than you or I....

"Know the smallest things and the biggest things, the shallowest things and the deepest things. As if it were a straight road mapped out on the ground ... These things cannot be explained in detail. From one thing, know ten thousand things. When you attain the Way of strategy there will not be one thing you cannot see. You must study hard."

Oh and BTW...I'm never out of my element....from the very projects listed in the article to the country club....I go places you fear to tread...and I'm welcomed...

1. Yes, words have power. Imagine how much criticism you would have received if you typed a snarky N-word.

2. Thank you for the ad hominem attacks. They further identify you as a troll instead of a person interested in contributing substantive discussion to the SB community.

3. Carry on with your "ebonics" tirade. Your witty substitution of an "o" for the "e" in "ebonics" was brilliant, absolutely brilliant, sir. Where do you comedy types come up with this stuff? I suggest that you switch careers from construction to stand-up.

#1... I dont use that word, my kids dont use that word, I bitch at people who use the word around me or my children...usually black people btw........but I'm pretty sure your family uses it.....as you made the instant mental connection between the two...to the point of having a fantasy that I would use it...

#2......Nice strawman there...knock it down again professor...

#3...typo...hey but dont let a fact get in your way there...

I would have said something like...welcome to "Omerica"

A regular Wizard of smart you are...

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

worthy of a visit to a shrinks' office.

I don't recall anyone on here putting you down because of the 'type of work' you do, or how many degrees you do or don't have; you brought that in here entirely on your own.

If you've read any of HM's postings here or on his own site you'd find out he's a hands-on 'fixer' of things in his own right, someone who's overcome bankruptcy, failed businesses, his own doubts as to who he wanted to be and the direction he wanted to go in life...and is now, yes, a successful educator, a person who has brought children and animals into his home who needed love and care, and maintains one of the most respected/balanced/reasoned blogsites around.

While waiting for the 'you guys must be dating' joke or some other snarky remark (sorry, never even met the man), let me finish with this: I fondly remember many teachers/professors/coaches who either individually or collectively had a profound effect on my formative years, either in the educational sense or just being there to listen to personal issues.

It's a shame evidently the same can't be said for you, Zeitgeist, and surely is an explanation for your rambling, what-about-me, look-at-me, please! meltdown.

Aw...isnt that sweet...shucks.....are you guys dating?

Children and pets who needed love and care?

Sheesh...the guy is a self described redneck...and you know what they do with children and pets...no wonder you look up to him...like a fluffer gnome.

Now THAT..is a good ad hominem ....a twofer even....

You guys crack me up...wizards of smart...

As they say...those who cant do...teach...

The Jeep was in the yard which probably means a chase. The officers did seem calm, which during the other incidents of police brutality, officers were out of control. It will be interesting to hear the whole story.

You need to reread my post. I was more concerned with the officer being bitten which is certainly more dangerous than being spit upon. And most forces have gotten rid of the choke hold. I don't care what force they use on this kid as we didn't see any video of what caused the arrest. Do what's necessary but keep yourself safe and free from possible lawsuits is what I'm saying

Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted.

As stated before, we need the WHOLE story.
As far as I'm concerned Ward just threw any real credibility out the window in favor of sucking up to the black community.

"We're all riding on the Hindenburg, no sense fighting over the window seats"-Richard Jenni

Damn Jeepmaker you hit it straight on the head......He threw himself into a situation without knowing all of the facts(the other side) to stand next to the family and cry foul, before the entire story has come to light. Of course mama is going to cry that her baby is inocent and never did anything wrong. Any respect I had for Mr. Ward has been blown out the window. After this stunt he will NEVER get my vote.

Bingo!

We have a winner...

The police report states the officers asked Casey to stop loitering and leave, but they say he refused and it then turned into a full fight.

The report says the 14-year-old struck officer Daniels in the chest and was kicking and trying to break free.

Why is it continually posted as "apparent' police brutality........since we haven't seen any video of what took place to start this arrest.

PRESS CONFERENCE
TRANSCRIPT OF THE SPEECH GIVEN BY STEPHEN WARD
We gather here this evening with the family of Trevor Casey to speak to the injustice that occurred on Friday, May 15. Fear of criminals and distrust of the justice system are real problems in urban areas of Toledo. Distrust of police exists because of a history of conflict and abuse of power among the ranks of the Toledo Police Department.

Let me stress, that not all police are bad. We have some officers who I personally know and commend for their efforts in serving Toledo. But, we also have some officers that do the city no justice at all. They use the badge and authority of the office to commit crimes. These are the rogues who must quickly be identified, and held accountable for their actions.

Let me be clear, this is not a issue of race, but an issue of injustice, an abuse of power. And so we gather here. We come in peace, but we come demanding answers and seeking justice and restoration for not only the victim Trevor Casey, but for the Casey family and the community at large who has been affected by this. While Trevor has been effected physically and bears the scars, he along
with his family, friends and this community shares the emotional trauma that this incident has caused.

Police corruption is complex and does not submit to a simple analysis. This problem affects us all, yes police officers too.

If we are in constant conflict with the police, we will be unable to deal with crime in our neighborhoods. We need to determine the good and just officers within the Toledo police department, make friends with them, and through those relationships bring loving pressure to get rid of those who abuse their power. We must do away with the yoke of oppression. And so we gather here...not to protest the police, but rather to expose, debunk, uncloak, and disprove police brutality.

This is beyond a tragedy. I understand the moral of the Toledo police may be low, and their stress levels elevated due to the recent layoffs. However, police are to protect and serve the citizens. And in order to do this...there must be trust and respect between the police and citizens...and because of recent actions, the trust and respect has been breached.

The man is a troll..unworthy of public office....

"We gather here this evening with the family of Trevor Casey to speak to the injustice that occurred on Friday, May 15."

Stephen should present evidence of the injustice if he has it before making such a statement. The video doesn't do it for me.

If man has no tea in him, he is incapable of understanding truth. ~Japanese Proverb

Interesting how I've heard comments from people about how the police should never have been rough with this punk because he is "just a 14 year old, 120 pound boy." Well let's see... Robert Jobe was what, one year older than this kid and probably weighed about the same. Too bad a cop or two didn't get brutal with him at some point. Maybe Keith Dressel would still be alive today. Never underestimate what a "just 14 year old, 120 pound boy" can do.

gold star to westsider for stepping over the white elephant in the room!

before the "arrest"/assault was it really necessary for two policemen to brutalize this child? Policemen are mad because they have to get back to policing instead of sitting behind a desk, as it looks like these two policemen have been doing.

How could a 120 lb child make you so angry that you would put your fingers in the child's nose and mouth, strangle him after beating him in the head while handcuffed? ANYBODY who thinks that is ok is nuts. These policemen probably weighed 350 -400 lbs each. Oh I forgot this child hit one of the big brave policemen in the chest. I am sure it hurt.

I commend Steven Ward who is not afraid of his political career to stand up for this family. We need more people like that in this city. People who are not afraid of political retribution and will stand up for right.

The fact that the policemen are black has absolutely no relavence because in the inner city they are blue before they are black.

if the 14 year old squared off and hit a cop? You endorse hitting the police, Twila?

For your information, to interfere with the police is a violation of the law.

just take your ride downtown and let the court system work it out.

and to think that the rules are different because your ass is in the inner city just reinforces the ignorance you wallow in.

Brian, those two officers in the video are from my information the two assigned to patrol the LMHA housing area. Twila and other such interested parties should get ahold of those officers through their depot on Nebraska (is that still open?) and have a frank exchange of views ... as adults and citizens and ladies and gentlemen. If there WAS some sort of abuse, then the officers will know we're watching them. If there WASN'T, then the general public there would get the police side of things.

Let's see if Mr Ward is brave enough to organize THAT.

From Purnhrt: How could a 120 lb child make you so angry that you would put your fingers in the child's nose and mouth, strangle him after beating him in the head while handcuffed?

You of all people have to ask this? Who are you trying to kid, me or you?

Kids, and especially teenagers, can make any adult so angry the adult can't see straight. The only child worse than a teenager is the 2 to 4 year old in the company of an overly indulgent grandparent.

Apply Ockham's Razor to this incident. It seems likely that the teenager got mouthy with the police, eventually using the old tried and true dictum, "You can't tell me what to do!". One or both police didn't feel up to tolerating the mouth and closed it, proving conclusively that not only could the police tell the teenager what to do, they were also big enough to back it up.

Trevor Casey got slapped around, cuffed and stuffed. Judging by the photos, more pride than hide was injured.

I was just watching the video again and my 12 year old walked in. She said, "Mommy every times I see that, I wonder why they don't call the police. And then I realize, that is the police."

"Mommy every times(sic) I see that, I wonder why they don't call the police."

You and your kid watching the video again? How many times did your 12 year old watch it before you tell her it's the police? Looking hard for something tangable, huh? I can honestly say I have yet to view the video and have absolutely no interest in watching it.

and without sharing with the site the continuation of the conversation, you leave nothing about how, as a parent, you addressed this situation your child brought to light.

I'd be interested in how your parenting skills educated your child through this incident.

I'm curious about how many of the "concerned" citizens on here would be happy to run up against this kid some night alone and try to take him on. According to his brother in the video he's a boxer. Of course that would never happen because he's in after curfew and his mom and dad know where he is.

Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted.

That's not his mom and dad's responsibility!! It's been posted out on this very site - that's all up to TPS!!

Summer vacation? Expulsion? Come on, TPS can't keep track of every gifted little choir boy all the time, especially with the stringent budget they have this year.

YOU make up the excuse - just dont lump the accountability on the parents!! You do that these days and they'll come at you with pure hate!

I can't think of any right now. Let me have a shot of old thought provoker and see what bubbles up.

THe police didn't look angry to me, it looks like they were doing their job.

Dont just watch the video....listen to it. The officers are are not yelling, screaming and cursing at anyone. They, in fact, are speaking in a clear voice and are very calm.
