Today is Bike To Work Day so both Keith Wilkowski and Mayor Finkbeiner will be riding thier bikes to work, sort of. Wilkowski will bike from Ottawa Park which is near his home and will finish at his campaign headquarters. Finkbeiner will start at Walbridge Park and head to One Government Center which is about 4 miles.
Both men will tell anyone who listens that this if about the environment, health, and saving energy. What no one will ask of course is "If this is so good why aren't you doing it everyday instead of once a year as a photo op"? In the case of the mayor someone should ask, "Why do you have a police bike patrol escort while you are laying officers off"?
How did each man travel to the park at which they began thier rides? We know the mayor usually transports his bike by car to the park, rides his bike to work while someone else drives his car, and then transports his bike back home later in the day. Maybe one of you liberals can explain where the energy savings is in that scenario.
This is one more opportunity for liberals to try to convince us that we should spend more money on bike paths and mass transit than on police and codified services. Next year let's just do a Take Your Bike To Work day it will have as much of an impact.

Really? Who ever said that? It's not a liberal stance. Sounds like you've been listening to too much WSPD

So why don't you hop in your Prius and go ask them? Too busy packing up your desk and filling out fast food applications?

Yes Fred, who (liberal or otherwise) is suggesting that we spend more for bike paths and mass transit than for police? You're not even trying anymore.
Actually you two, or one whatever it is, Teresa Fedor and Mayor Finkbeiner both have suggested that we need more bike paths so people will be able to use them to "live healthy lifestyles" and to exercise. Finkbeiner grand plan is to link the area with bike paths so that people can bike to work downtown. And TMACOG which sponsors bike to work day has a study and a plan to make all that happen.
It's a shame you don't pay more attention to what's going on around you. By the way, the Prius this last tank of gas......48.7 MPG
Packing up my desk? I sitll have stuff I took from your desk that I haven't packed up Jeremy.
Here's to the crazy ones, the rebels, the troublemakers, the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
What does all that have to do with someone advocating spending more on bike paths and mass transit than is spent on police? Where did Fedor or Carty suggest spending on those things to the detriment of police spending?
Maybe you are saying that the money that is being spent on bike paths etc. could be better spent on police. Fair enough, but that is not the same as saying there are politicians who want money taken away from police and given to bikes and buses. Words mean things.
Why don't you confront these "liberals" and ask the "tough" questions no one else will ask? You know where they are, track them down with the super-efficient Prius and put them on the spot. What good is whining here going to do about it? Motivate someone else to do your work for you?
You know Jeremy at first I didn't realize where you and pnk were getting a police reference from. I went back and reread my original post and see where you two morons have decided to change "police bike patrol escort" into the entire police force. I never said anyone wants to spend "more" on bike paths than police. The question refers to the fact that the mayor has laid off police but when it is convenient for him he has enough to escort him on his bike ride.
Now if you want discuss the relative merits of money spent on bike paths, and flowers instead of police that's post for another day. And our leaders have been asked this question by me which is how I know what thhey think already. I'm suprised while you were in radio no one you worked with asked the question.

That's some good reading, Jeremy LeFebvre.
There's a city full of walls you can post complaints at
