Senior Medical Sales Representative for Meda Pharmaceuticals and Toledo resident Ty Daniels, an independent, will announce his campaign for Toledo At-Large City Council this Monday, May 4th at noon at Manhattan’s Restaurant, a locally-owned and thriving downtown Toledo business located at 1516 Adams St.
When asked about why he wants to be a Toledo City Councilman, the candidate answers, that, “This City is in trouble. Essentially, City Government has its priorities out of order. I am running to return reason and order to City Government.”
Mr. Daniels has five reasons for running:
Budget- City Government maintains that safety services are their top priority. Yet, the first item to be cut is to our safety forces. We cannot allow this to continue.
Police and Fire- Government cannot cut safety first. Government must start from the bottom, or waste, side of the budget and cut from there. The safety of the city and its residents should always remain a high priority.
Garbage fee (tax) – This is a clear example of ‘taxation without representation’. The main question we ought to ask ourselves is “Don't we already pay for garbage with our tax dollars?”
Business - Intermodal, parking lots, ambulance service. Government does not exist to run businesses. These services are businesses, and should be privatized by people who actually know how to run these enterprises. Government ought not be concerned with revenue streams.
Attitude- part of the overriding problem within City Government is attitude...the Mayor doesn't want to work with Council, Council doesn't want to work with the Mayor and it trickles down to the citizens of this great City.
Ty Daniels has a Bachelors degree from BGSU in Finance. He began his business career at Savage and Associates working as a financial planner, and has remained in sales since then. He will bring his experience in the financial sector to Toledo City Council.
