3 Obama affiliated get-out-the vote advocates guilty of fraud

I can't believe they will get off with just a fine.

Three staff members for Vote Today Ohio, an independent get-out-the-vote organization supporting Barack Obama, pleaded guilty in Franklin County this afternoon to voter fraud.

The three came to Ohio from states where Obama was likely to win in an effort to swing Ohio's electoral college vote toward their candidate, Judge Charles A. Schneider said. The judge gave all three 60 days in jail but suspended it if they paid a $1,000 fine. He also ordered a year's probation.

No votes yet

Proof you can buy an election.
Does this mean George Soros is the "shadow president"?

"We're all riding on the Hindenburg, no sense fighting over the window seats"-Richard Jenni

that is a story. This is a conviction.

The article states this:

"Three staff members for Vote Today Ohio, an independent get-out-the-vote organization supporting Barack Obama, pleaded guilty in Franklin County this afternoon to improper voting."

Yet, Chris posted this:

"Three staff members for Vote Today Ohio, an independent get-out-the-vote organization supporting Barack Obama, pleaded guilty in Franklin County this afternoon to voter fraud.

Is "improper voting" a lesser offense than "voter fraud"? Would that explain why there was no jail time? Isn't jail time mandatory in Ohio for voter fraud?

Regardless, this would represent .00000005 of all votes in Ohio and yet this story will be used to justify disenfraching thousands from voting in the next election.

Pink Slip

changed their story, no-pun intended. I copied that from the article yesterday. I am sure a Google cache will confirm it.

BTW Pink Slip you were the one who last year was demanding proof of the fraud. Being that it takes this long to actually try someone who was arrested of fraud, it is here. Now there is more proof and conviction (remember Cleveland last year?) you say it is only .00000xxxx whatever of the votes? Fair voting is the foundation of our system and messing with it is bad. One fraudulent vote is wrong and is an insult to the rest of us. Those people should have received a worse punishment than that.

I still have the story open. I made a screen shot too.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt with the Dispatch changing the wording. I'm still wondering if it's the same thing?

To answer your last point Chris, if you go back and look, I acknowledged (and still do) that there are a couple of cases of voter fraud that are real. My point was (and still is) is that people on the right will use these miniscule examples to create draconian laws that affect thousands. And disenfranchisement of thousands of voters is worse than 2-3 actual cases of fraud. Fraud is wrong and illegal, and I'm glad people get prosecuted for breaking the law. But it's not as widespread as some (like you) make it out to be.

My point was (and still is) is that people on the right will use these miniscule examples to create draconian laws that affect thousands.

Valid point, but lets not limit that to the right. Both sides do that with regularity.

Both sides try to make laws that make it more difficult to vote? You'll have to show me some examples please. I am only aware of Republicans doing this.

Pink Slip

both sides do use miniscule examples to effect draconian laws that would effect thousands.

if you need examples I will provide them, but I dont want to take this thread in other directions. If you still disagree let me know and I will.

Oh, ok...I thought you meant specifically voting laws. My bad

Pink Slip

Ann Coulter is still walking around and she's committed improper voting voter fraud.
