Today, mayoral candidate Jim Moody urged both Toledo City Government and the Lucas County Commissioners to pass simultaneous resolutions urging the State government to require all convicted sexual predators driving motor vehicles in Ohio to use a special colored license plate.
"Our children are at too precious to risk any harm upon them and we have a duty, as a community, to do all we can to protect them against danger" said Jim Moody. He added, "By requiring these offenders to be more easily identifiable, our children will be better able to avoid contact with them and alert authorities should these predators come close to school areas"
Unlike previous resolutions offered by both local governmental offices requiring federal action, this resolution can be enacted by our State legislature. According to Moody, "It's a chance for Toledo to lead our State in a movement that has substance and significance."
Following is the resolution Moody offered;
Whereas: 45% of all victims of sexual predators are under the age of 12 years
Whereas: The population of sexual offenders continues to grow in Toledo
Whereas: 80% of all Toledo addresses have a sexual offender located within 1 mile
Be It Resolved: The elected officials and the general population of the citizens of Toledo petition the Governor of Ohio to require that all sexual offenders, in order to obtain a motor vehicle operators license, be required to drive vehicles licensed with the non-typical color of chartreuse.
Purpose of the Resolution
Approximately 45 percent of the victims of sexual predators are children under the age of 12. More than 50 percent of convicted sexual offenders recommit another sexual offense. It is an unfortunate reality of our society that sexual predators live amongst us and sexual predators are hard to identify in the general public. "While it is self evident that no city mayor can singularly change state licensing procedures, it is the responsibility of every citizen to protect our children with every tool and every idea, using every means at our disposal. By passing this resolution and holding our elected officials in Columbus accountable, Toledo can lead the State in its efforts to protect our children." Said Moody.
Once again, we are picking on a minority to make ourselves feel better. Does that make us better than them? No, that just makes us more pathetic.
Want to talk about risk? Marking cars in accordance to the past crimes of their drivers means these cars will be targeted. But of course you people want rocks thrown at their cars, right? And their windows broken at night. And all manner of bad things to happen to them.
Here's a plan, you fucking cowards: JUST DRAG THESE "SEXUAL PREDATORS" OUT AND KILL THEM. It's what you want to do anyway ... so why be bashful?
The next thing you know, we'll have "special mark" license plates for people who are behind on child support payments. When will this stupid viciousness end? Honestly, this kind of bullshit is just another example of how fucking INSANE our society really is. It amply demonstrates that we have FAR TOO LARGE of a government if said government has time for stupid fucking shit like this.
Mr Moody: If this is your idea of what a mayor should do, go and soak your head in the Muddy Maumee until you get that silliness out of it. We need this government DOWNSIZED, to match what besieged Toledoans will encounter in this Great Depression II. You have FAILED the "priority test".
Hell Jim it's way past 1984. Strap em down and implant gps trackers in their bodies and wait better yet, a device to read their thoughts and electrically zap em when they are close to being over the line. How many ways can retribution be defined?
More incredibly bad law inflicted on the general public by the elected officials, who have much more in common with any third world dictatorship than they are willing to contemplate.
The problem with this waste of a good forest is the same problem that exists with all identification laws: Behavior isn't changed. The Sheep already have the ability to check for registered sex offenders in their own neighborhoods, but simply knowing that a person with a criminal record exists and is nearby doesn't change the Sheep's behavior. The Sheep still graze and continue to do the dumbest things imaginable. Now, by contrast, imagine if brutally murdered neighbors started turning up on a weekly basis. Seeing first hand evidence of danger might induce the stupid Sheep to change their habits and start protecting their own families instead of relying on security cameras and the big, important police to save them.
The real crime is that Sheep get to vote, and idiots like Moody appeal to them. Just a few more laws and everything will be fine.
