Boehner Invites High School Students to Compete in Congressional Art Competition

Mar 25, 2009

Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) invites 8th Congressional District high school students to participate in An Artistic Discovery, a congressional art competition in which the winner’s artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

“I’m pleased to be able to showcase the artistic talents of our students,” Boehner said. “Art is a valuable part of a well-rounded education, and this competition gives students an opportunity to show their work at the Fairfield Community Arts Center.”

April 10th is the final day to submit to either of Boehner’s West Chester or Troy district offices. The First Place winner is eligible to receive a scholarship to a nationally recognized art and design college if he or she is accepted to the school.

All artwork will be displayed at the Fairfield Community Arts Center from April 20 to May 3; the awards ceremony will be held at the center on Saturday, April 25.

Competition Guidelines:

• Each piece can be no larger than 30”x30”x4” including the frame and can weigh no more than 15 lbs.

• Each entry must be original in concept, design, and execution, and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws. Any entry that has been produced from an existing photo that is not owned by the student-artist, painting, graphic, advertisement or any other work produced by another person is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted. Artwork of a violent or graphic nature will not be accepted.

Boehner represents Ohio’s 8th District, which includes all of Darke, Miami and Preble counties, most of Butler and Mercer counties, and the northeastern corner of Montgomery County. He was first elected to Congress in 1990.

TAKE It's TAKE. Oh well, nobody reads the Bob Latta posts either. :)

I'm glad you corrected that, littlered. I thought you had developed a lisp.

I have a feeling there will be another Bob Latta update soon. Inquiring minds want to know....

What is Bob up to right now?

What did Bob have for dinner last night?

Who is Bob's favorite musician?

What does Bob think of red meat?

Can Bob save the US by complaining about government spending, and yet defend his own earmarks?

Bob, are you there? It's me, Pink Slip

Pink Slip

i might not always agree with you pink, ok more like i hardly ever agree, but you're alright. :) i'm thankful chris will keep us up to date with bob latta. :)

Bob Latta is great

He will save the 5th district

But who will save him?

Pink Slip

What do John and Bob think of the BCS hearings to be held in Congress? I mean come on, Obama has saved the economy so it must be time to attack the NCAA football process. Will there be a democrat/republican divide as with most other issues? I can't imagine what that would be. And the biggest question of all, where will Marcy be in the debate?

Insanity must be in the air in DC

oh my goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!! where is the daily bob latta update?????? i NEED to hear the latest on bob latta!!!!!!!!!!!!!! chris, don't let us down!

I think you have a room dedicated to Bob Latta. I think your purported satire is to hid the reality that you are a fanboy of Bob. Bob and Buffy both start with a B.

ok, you got me, my house is decorated with bob latta memorabilia. my kitchen is lime green with tree frogs all holding signs saying, "i (heart) bob latta", and "latta be the man!" the rest of my house has newspaper clippings and photos of him framed. (i don't have pictures of my kids displayed in my house, only bob's picture.) you know which house is mine by the flashing Christmas lights that spell out, "vote bob latta." yeah, it really bothers my neighbors, but i don't care, it's bob latta! when bob comes over he's like one of the family. my dog even loves him. :)

not know Bob likes Whippets.

yeah! i thought everyone knew that! :)
