This could be very interesting.

A fellow Jeep retiree told me about reading this article in JP Magazine (for Jeep enthusiasts).
I looked up the magazine online and here's the article. Personally, if it's true, I think it could be the best thing to happen to Jeep in many years.

Yes

that is very interesting and I could see International as really the only company benefiting from getting into the auto industry again. They could quite possibly be the only company that could make sense on doing such a thing.

The only problem that I see is that Jeep is really the only golden goose and I don't see anyone wanting to get rid of that. Rumors are that GM is trying to offload Hummer which would hurt a major assumption of this path.

I would love to see International pickup trucks and International Jeeps again.

Thanks for posting.

I question this guy's sources a lot of what he says just don't make sense. for example he states that GM doesn't want Jeep to compete with Hummer, but GM is trying to get rid of Hummer. International owning Jeep sounds a little odd given they are big into diesel with semi and tractor manufacture. But who knows.

This from autoblog......

Rumormill: Chrysler to sell Jeep to International? If so, it's news to Chrysler

"A report has just popped up on the website for JP Magazine that the International Trucks unit of Navistar has purchased Jeep. We've contacted Chrysler for a comment on the story and spokesman Ed Garsten told us he hasn't "...heard a thing on this." The story may turn out to be untrue – in fact, we suspect it may be an unfortunately-timed April Fool's joke ............"
