as a type 1 diabetic, i'm estatic to know valuable research can move forward!!!
how do you feel about this? a lot of Bush's other policies aside.. his view of Stem Cell research was always what I would use in an argument about why I wanted him out of office.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/09/obama.stem.cells/index.html

Stem cell research has allowed scientists to reconnect the spinal cord in lab rats with only 20% loss to motor skills. The federal government should have been using a bulldozer to move federal funds into stem cell research and genetics in general.
One of the greatest failures of King George II and his Court is limiting stem cell research.
Mad Jack
Mad Jack's Shack
... we live long enough to see some of the benefits from this new research!!!
...didn't restrict private stem cell research other than not forcing all of us to pay the costs.
If there was any hope of successful research, the private dollars would have been invested on the business posibilities to be developed.
Sorry Jack, I don't think it'll cure syphilis or crotchetiness

The single best decision Obama's made in his seven weeks in office.
All the stimulus stuff? We'll have to wait and see about that.
The Constitution of the United States says "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
Please help me find where in our Constitution that our federal government is delegated the power to fund stem cell research.

Let me take a stab at it...
From the article:
"Obama's order directs the NIH to develop revised guidelines on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research within 120 days"
The NIH is an agency of the Department of Health & Human Services--a federally-funded cabinet department.

I am not passing judgement either way but there are other points of view, I found this one:
http://www.usnews.com/blogs/heart-to-heart/2009/03/04/why-embryonic-stem...
It is from Dr. Bernadine Healy. She was the Head of the Red Cross and Head of a medical Dept at The Ohio State University. She is not a card carrying conservative, nor are the places she has worked.
Just considering another point of view.
The constitution means whatever the democrats say it means, I guess. I am very glad to know more federal dollars(our dollars) will be spent to get more rats up and walking, too.

I think there is a mom joke in there somewhere.
