Perrysburg, Ohio (March 9, 2009) Ohio Governor Ted Strickland has
appointed Kevin Joyce of Sylvania, Ohio, to the Great Lakes Compact Advisory
Board.

recommendations for legislation to implement the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence
River Basin Water Resources Compact. The purpose of the compact, which was
adopted by the eight Great Lakes states and two Canadian provinces and
signed into law by President Bush, is to conserve and manage the water
resources of the Great Lakes watershed.
Governor Strickland appointed Mr. Joyce to the advisory board as
representative of a local environmental advocacy organization in the Lake
Erie basin.
Mr. Joyce is executive director of Black Swamp Conservancy, a land trust
based in Perrysburg, Ohio. The conservancy is a non-profit corporation
dedicated to the protection of farmland and natural areas in northwest Ohio
for the benefit of current and future generations. Black Swamp Conservancy
has permanently protected over 7,400 acres of farmland, woods, shoreline,
meadows and wetlands in eleven counties in northwest Ohio.
