Please place Darlene Fisher on the OSFC TPS committee

By Warren Woodberry:

At the recent TPS meeting, Thursday Jan. 8, 2009 Steven Steel was nominated and successfully re-elected as president of TPS. No surprises there as the steps to city council become shorter if you can come into the election with a high profile position. No one begrudges a person trying to secure a higher position, but their judgment is highly

questionable when they fail to acknowledge that the community has spoken on the value of Darlene Fisher. The exclusion of Darlene Fisher from the Ohio State Facility Commitee for TPS leaves one to wonder the reason. To replace her, with her yeoman service to the community and her initial connect with the OSFC while also meeting on a regular basis with the community, leaves one to ask the question whether this is__ God forbid__ retaliation for her daring to ask the hard questions and to always represent the community on issues that affect the community? In the Blade article "State wants Scott plan by July 31 Fate of historic school is still undecided."by Meghan Gilbert staff writer for the Blade, was the writer incorrect in crediting both Mrs. Sobecki and Darlene Fisher by stating that "Ms. Sobecki and Darlene Fisher, the school board members on the committee, asked to petition (OSFC) for waivers that could give the district more time and flexibility while not jeopardizing the project?" How in the world could president Steel not assign Ms. Fisher a position on the OSFC commitee? Will he venture into the hood at night to hear our concerns as Ms. Fisher has done on a regular basis? Will he make sure that the concerns for Scott are expressed? I don't think so. I am told that once a member is excluded from a committee they are not on a need to know basis and receive only dribs and drabs of the proceedings often complaining of being in the dark on TPS issues. We need Ms. Fisher to continue to serve as our eyes and ears as transparency on the building for success program is a win-win situation for TPS, the students and the school system. I implore the TPS school board and president Steel to correct this injustice and place Ms. Fisher on the OSFC committee. It is not only the right thing to do, but the only thing to do if one wants to run for a higher office without the public being reminded of this political,

( how do you spell vindictive) blunder. Do we, the public, appear both dumb and blind?

The next meeting of a NEW TPS OSFC Committee is this Tue. 10am, Jan.13 in room 309, fortress TPS Manhattan Blvd. Come monitor the tenor of the new year. See Hildo sober. Run, Johnny, Run for City Council.

Also TPS Board Retreat Sat. morn. 9am -noon at old Riverside Hospital - Waite-Brand Auditorium.

Still beautifully designed Bowsher HS was heartbreaking last Wed. as the auctioning clumsiness made it too difficult to buy pieces that went in lots - the remainders go in the land fill, like Woodward, Glenwood etc. The auction salves some consciences.
