Troy Neff Show: Take Back Toledo

13abc Conklin & Company: The Recall Carty Campaign is Discussed.

Mr. Neff appears to know just enough about the recall to make him say foolish things. He talked about the money being spent on the effort for such a minor return as having the Mayor recalled so close to the end of his term. I have read on here that he "buys" the time he uses on the radio station, and other people have said that not many people listen. I know I wasn't aware until I had read of him here. I guess my question is how is his spending money for such a small return any different than the recall group? I'm not trying to be confrontational, just asking is all. Is it a good business decision for anybody to spend money in that manner? Couldn't the recall group just use the money to find a good candidate, and couldn't Mr. Neff use his money to advertise on a good radio station? I swear my curiosity is going to kill me.

and thank you for asking them in a way that it is not some kind of personal attack.

I wouldn't say that my remarks were foolish. Many people have asked the same question. The answer is, these business folks can spend THEIR money anyway they see fit. Members of the group have said they want to make sure Carty doesn't run again. What I said on Take3 was information given to me by, one of the charter members, Andy Stuart. Which is that the recall effort also goes beyond Carty and is a message to other politicians that this group is serious. They want business friendly leaders in office and are prepared to support them.

I have been told that to run for Mayor and win it will take 250k to 500k. I want this group to be successful in finding and supporting new candidates for office. My comments Take3 were in relation to that.

I do own my show. It has been an excellent investment for me for a number of years now. I have gotten a very good return on my money. It has opened many other doors for me as well, like my column in the Toledo Free Press, and more tv appearances on both Conklin & Co. and Fox Toledo's Rant and Rave. People can say what they want about ratings, I judge the success based on the number of new clients we get. I also advertise on WSPD as well. I think more businesses shoud consider advertising on radio even in these tough economic times.

Hope this addresses your curiousity. Have a great day! :)
