Beckman headed to Toledo

Toledo has a new coach?
===
Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Tim Beckman is expected to be introduced as the University of Toledo’s new head football coach on Thursday, the Tulsa World has learned.

A press conference is scheduled for noon Central time in Toledo, Ohio. A source confirmed to a Toledo Blade newspaper reporter that the 43-year-old Beckman, who has coordinated the OSU defense for two seasons, was selected to lead the Rockets’ program. Attempts to contact Beckman and Cowboy head coach Mike Gundy were unsuccessful. It is not known whether Beckman would make an immediate move to Toledo or remain with the Cowboys (9-3 overall, 5-3 Big 12) through their bowl game. On Sunday, OSU will learn its bowl destination.

He was a coach at BG during some of their off years(late Blackney era). My brother thought he'd be done with football after H.S. Coach Beckman almost had my brother walking on at BG.

This was only because my brother would have like to have played under him. So that tells me he knows the area recruiting.

My preference would have been Dave Christensen, who just left as OC for Missouri and took the Wyoming job. I would have preferred him as a replacement for Pinkel the first time as Amstutz is a great recruiter but never was a big disciplinarian. Christensen was a disciplinarian and I think could have gotten more of the coaches with Pinkel to stay behind.
