Am I the only one who sees Swampbubbles more and more as becoming a post-it board for local media?
For a long time we had local media personalities come into a board and link if something they talked about was relevant to the topic but too often their shows and stories are becoming the topic. If this were a once in a while thing I'd have no problem with it but it's becoming an every day event.
If I wanted to listen/watch/read your tv show/radio show/blog then you should be interesting enough to not need to troll/spam/desperately fight for attention on this forum. It gets in the way of the things I actually do care about.
I remember we had a reporter from I believe 24 on here some time back doing the same thing and that person was either banned or shamed enough into not posting after we realized what it they were doing.
The more we allow them to do this then the less this forum becomes about us coming to debate and discuss issues and it becomes more of where to go to figure out what to watch. Again I have no problem if they post in an already created topic to say "I just did a interview about this" but I don't think EVERY interview or story they do is of such great importance that we need it to be a topic. If so maybe I should begin posting what their competitors are doing in order to level out the playing field.
I only ask this because I love swampbubbles. The people on here I like the most are the ones I argue with the most. They make me rethink my opinions and sometimes change my mind and sometimes further embolden my decision. The more we water this forum down the less and less I want to come on here.
If you agree please post your feelings and maybe Chris will rethink what he will allow. After all it is his board.
I'd like to point out to mikey that this "everyday event" as he calls it hasn't happened since the 24th, a full five days ago. I have found that just not reading a post you're not interested in can be quite helpful also. but that's just me i guess.
Here's to the crazy ones, the rebels, the troublemakers, the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
Fred,
You've been a long time contributor to SB. You don't just post about your show but actually about the issues. This is what I value.
You didn't always post the topics of your show. Again just as I said in the initial post. I wish we could get back to that day again.
I don't read most of those posts. It's only a select few I've clicked on. Again only when the topic interests me. But what results is spam. I get a ton of spam in my email. I don't read them cuz frankly I don't need to check my credit nor do I need a bigger penis. It doesn't mean it's not annoying nor does it stop yahoo for putting in a spam filter. I'm just asking Chris to consider exercising his editorial control.
And while there hasn't been a post as I mentioned in 5 days it did happen by yourself and another commentator on that day. Just once in a while and I'd be cool with it. But it is slowly becoming the norm.

Fred's posting his topics here doesn't bother me nearly as much as some of the goofy-assed commentators who are allowed to eat up miles of space and clutter the remarks with incomprehensible gibberish and repetitious rants, all of which is written with misplaced punctuation, run-on sentences, and random capitalization. But in principle, I agree with Mikey that SB shouldn't turn into a media board.
Me to I think rammbaling is a bad thing and then and then and because. ANYWAY its christmas you could say buy a vowel. A real stickler for good grammer. you missed the point entirely. It's interesting that that's all you could see. your one of those people who wouldnt recognize Jesus or Mark Twain if you saw them. Hell, you people crusified him.
the ball is headed to far out left field and you're the only one out there.
Chris isn't going to do anything, especially if it makes him hits
Nate your posts lack logical and coherent thought.
Again I suggest you work on your communication skills before posting.
Right now I can find better communicated thoughts in my spaghetti o's.

The media posts are annoying because, in my opinion, they are just cluttering up the site. What has kept me away lately are the nutty trolls; if they can be reigned in the site would be much better.
right now for the main reason is that I don't see it as a problem. Let me think about it and try to see your point of view, but that will take some time.
I do appreciate you taking time to write out your thoughts and concerns. It is always nice when people care enough that they want to publicly post here. I have implemented some ideas and other ones I have put on the back burner.
I don't think the numbers of post from Fred or Troy have increased over the past month, what has happened was the other posts have dropped off in the last month and the site has been a bit stagnate over the last couple of weeks and has become a bit toxic. People are done with the election, the holidays are all taking people's mind off what is going on here.
Yes the annoying trolls are very interesting. The most annoying right now, I have no idea why this person is posting on this site. America has a lot of discussion forums and why this one was chosen is beyond me. Obviously this site has moved to a different level and I am still trying to figure out what it means.
Don't get me wrong Chris. I don't want them banned from posting or even from starting threads. I just would like to see the overkill cut down.
On a challenge from Fred's post I checked to see how often they were posting. Prior to the holiday my rough calculations came to approx. every 2 1/2 days.
If they limited it to one post per week of "This week on our show" or just only posted into already started threads I'd have no problem with it at all.

My case in point.

I fail to see how this holds major news or topic value. This is only a commercial.

folk I think. That's 8%
It's a layout problem. Adding topics causes preceding topics to fall below the fold and eventually off the end of the list. If the list of topics for discussion were compressed to, say, three lines the perceived problem would vanish.
I'd like to see the trolls and the illiterate policed a little better. I've seen several interesting discussions hijacked by various trolls, and it gets to be annoying.
Mikey, I'd have to agree. It keeps me away most of the time. Ill bring up he page, see a bunch of listen to this, that or whatever, almost always at the top, and i usually move on to somewhere else. Scrolling through all the media stuff is annoying, so i tend to not even bother with it.
