Lucas County planning to lay off 20 employees

The county commissioners are planning to lay off twenty employees because of a budget crunch and declining revenues. In my opinion, they can start cutting at the Health Department, which has plenty of people to police bars for smoking infractions, while laying off people in the rat eradication unit several months ago. Hope they start by laying off David Grossman.

"The Lucas County Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to lay off 20 people, claiming declining revenues have led to a budget crunch.

"The 20 layoffs span seven county departments, including the child support enforcement agency, the facilities department, and the county administration, and include both union and non-union employees. The commissioners also eliminated two vacant positions.
The layoffs will take effect on Jan. 1.

"The commissioners said they’re planning on cutting their budget by 15 percent for next year. They’ve also asked other county departments to cut their budgets by 5 percent."

Sounds like a plan to me, Pete. I'll never forget that worthless POS (Grossman) going on TV and pooh-poohing the bird flu and Lyme disease (which really WERE killing people)and saying there was nothing to worry about, within a few days of going on a ETS (enviornmental tobacco smoke) tirade. This grinning slimeball has got to be one of the most useless and overpaid individuals in county history
