Whirlpool adding 400 posts to Findlay when Tennessee plant closes
Whirpool Corp. said yesterday it will move about 400 jobs to northwest Ohio from a dishwasher factory it will close in Jackson, Tenn.
The jobs from Jackson will be transferred to Whirlpool's plant in Findlay, about 40 miles south of Toledo, in mid-2009, company spokesman Lisa Fell said.
Employees from Jackson "will be invited to apply" for the jobs in Findlay, but the jobs are most likely to be filled with new employees from the region, she said.
"Whirlpool doesn't transfer hourly associates, typically," Ms. Fell explained.
