Gov. Palin has requested $750 million in her two years as governor---Largest reguest in nation

The Bridge to Nowhere argument isn't going much of anywhere.

Despite significant evidence to the contrary, the McCain campaign continues to assert that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told the federal government "thanks but no thanks" to the now-famous bridge to an island in her home state.

The McCain campaign released a television advertisement Monday morning titled "Original Mavericks." The narrator of the 30-second spot boasts about the pair: "He fights pork-barrel spending. She stopped the Bridge to Nowhere." (cont.)

Pink - Why bother trying to point out Palin lies and hypocrisy? Remember, these are people who think George Bush is a good President. With the bar set that low, there isn’t much you can say or prove to change someone’s mind.

From the WSJ story:

"The McCain campaign jumped back with spokesman Brian Rogers calling the attacks "hysterical." "

In other words, stop beating up on the female VP candidate, you bullies. Sarah's above the fray, dontcha know--she's a wholesome mother of five.

Kinda makes ya wish that our governor'd jump in and put in some requests for Ohio, huh?

The one linked in the WSJ article

It says:
"The Department of Transportation has approximately $36 million in federal funds that will become available for other projects with the shutdown of the Gravina Island bridge project. Governor Palin has directed Commissioner Leo von Scheben to review transportation projects statewide to prepare a list of possible uses for the funds, while the department also looks for a more affordable answer for Gravina island access."

So apparently the Governor redirected the $36 Million, deciding to spend the money on other road projects since the $36 Million that the Feds gave them was not even close to the $398 Million required to build the bridge to nowhere WHICH SHE DID OPPOSE.

The Economist has a fairly good article on Alaska and Gov. Palin - Examining Alaska: From pork to petrodollars. Here's the link:

From the article: Rather than paying taxes to the state, Alaskans receive cheques from it. I wish Gov. Ted Strickland could do half so well. If Ohio ever had a significant surplus of funds the State would spend the money before the cheque cleared the bank, then raise taxes because the State government didn't have enough money to fund all the special interest programs that they claim the taxpayers need.

Yeah, let's all criticize Palin - she did such a poor job in Alaska.

"Alaska is, in essence, an adjunct member of OPEC. It has four different taxes on oil, which produce more than 89% of the state's unrestricted revenue. On average, three-quarters of the value of a barrel of oil is taken by the state government before that oil is permitted to leave the state. Alaska residents each get a yearly check for about $2,000 from oil revenues, plus an additional $1,200 pushed through by Palin last year to take advantage of rising oil prices."---

What? Taft and his Republicans buddies ran (in the ground) Ohio for years...

I don't exprect Ted to turn it around over night, but he's doing to pretty good job with what he was left with.

Whose watch is it?

Your spinless, union-ass kissing Democrat puppet in the Governers Mansion has been in power for two years.

And Czarty has been in charge as long.

AFTER ALL, Czarty and Governor what's-his-name get results! Unfortunately for you, the results are SENDING JOBS TO INDIANA

How nice, that Gov Palin can take all of that federal money and give it to Alaskans. Well, you know what the Alaska Independence Party says....."Alaskans First!"
