Yippee !!!! High school football is back

Who cares and if your an adult why would you ? What is the huge facination with all things high school football ? Big Board, Powerspack the Frenzy get over it. It is sloppy played amature sports. Even if you had a child participating does it really deserve this much media coverage ? I say No freakin way ! As an avid news junkie I find it very disturbing that half of my local news brocast has been hijacked by the extended coverage given to such meaningless matchups. Local broadcasts are not that hard hitting to begin with. But to waste half of Friday and much of the rest of the week on exploits of pimple faced kids flopping around is astounding.

And yes before it is mentioned I had no interest in high school sports as a student.

You state "...news brocast has been hijacked by the extended coverage given to such meaningless matchups."

I think we need such coverage of local events to put everything in perspective and fend off all the doom and gloom so much of the news is comprised of. If all you want is the headlines there are plenty of 24 hr news broadcast to select from. Seeing the neighborhood kid down the street run in for a touchdown, or a painted face cheerleader pumping up the student body or kids just being kids showboating for the cameras always brings a smile to my face.

You need to lighten up a little and enjoy the simple pleasures life offers and then maybe you can change your user name from "angry" to "happy". JMO

Your last sentence was not necessary - it was quite obvious from the rest of your post. :)

KraZyKat made some good points about having some positive local stories on the news.

Anyhow, the amount of time dedicated to high school sports on our local news is nothing compared to some other regions of the country. People live, eat, and breathe high school football in many states.
