YWCA Warns of Fraudulent Donation Solicitor

Toledo, Ohio. Officials at the YWCA of Greater Toledo received reports that a woman is stating that she is affiliated with the YWCA and attempting to raise funds on behalf of the agency’s Battered Women’s Shelter. Reports include that she is African-American, between the ages of 30 – 40, wearing a self-created YWCA name badge and standing in front of restaurants and other businesses asking for cash donations. “This person is not affiliated with the YWCA and was not asked to solicit funds on behalf of our agency,” said Lisa McDuffie, CEO.

Volunteers occasionally assist the YWCA to ask for donations for special events and campaign drives. These contributions are made directly to the agency.
