US export of oil hits all time high!

This is just gross...Republicans keep trying to shove ANWR and offshore drilling down our throats as a way to achieve energy in dependence.

As it turns out, for the first 4 months of 2008, oil exports from the US were at an all time high! The sad part of this is that I had to go to the UK version of the Reuters News Service to read this.

ANALYSIS-US oil firms seek drilling access, but exports soar
WASHINGTON, July 3 (Reuters) - While the U.S. oil industry wants access to more federal lands to help reduce reliance on foreign suppliers, American-based companies are shipping record amounts of gasoline and diesel fuel to other countries.

A record 1.6 million barrels a day in U.S. refined petroleum products were exported during the first four months of this year, up 33 percent from 1.2 million barrels a day over the same period in 2007. Shipments this February topped 1.8 million barrels a day for the first time during any month, according to final numbers from the Energy Department.

The surge in exports appears to contradict the pleas from the U.S. oil industry and the Bush administration for Congress to open more offshore waters and Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling.

Go read the whole thing. It just proves that Big Oil only wants to control and lock up all the resources it can get it’s hands on and the Republicans are determined to let them do it.

hahahaha....nice. Sensor, you mean to tell me that the Republicans weren't being sincere about oil drilling?? Oh well, you know what they say----fool me 327 times, shame on you, fool me 328 times....

Pink Slip

And then you didn't even read your own editorial.

Because if you had, you would have seen THIS part:
"John Felmy, the chief economist at the American Petroleum Institute, said a portion of the oil products exported, especially diesel, was fuel that did not meet U.S. clean air requirements and therefore could not be sold in America"

Want to quit exporting that fuel? THEN LET TRUCKERS GO BACK TO USING HIGH-SULFER FUEL. That way it is legal to sell it in America again. But it makes sense, if it is illegal to use in America but legal to use in other countries, why throw it out?

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a

It said "a portion" not all of the what was exported...

The oil companies could easily process the fuel to meet US standards, they chose not too.

This still goes to show that the price of gas is not a supply and depand problem and all the drilling on US soil won't significatly effect the price.

The US doesn't even make the list of the top 15 exporters of oil, but damned if we aren't always the number one consumer and importer of it.

This one has us ranked in 11th place for known Oil Reserves:

Because it takes alot of fuel to grow and transport FOOD.

Just in March of this year, we grew and exported 1.100.000 TONS of food OVERSEAS.

Want to reduce the amount of oil America uses? THEN LET THE REST OF THE GLOBE STARVE.

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a
