University of Toledo athletics once again investigated in gambling scandal

The UT is once again at the center of a gambling charge. This time around it is focused on Sammy Villegas who has been charged  with one count of conspiracy to influence sporting contests by bribery. This follows on the footsteps of the charges filed against Harvey "Scooter" McDougle last year on similar charges while playing for the UT Rockets football team. The charges against him were later dropped.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Stan Joplins removal as head coach?

FOX 36 has broke the story Read it here.

Something doesn't seem right about this one.

What's weird is that with McDougle, we had many more specifics, including the name of the co-conspirator. This time, we have a lot of conversations with some anonymous person, and 2 missed free throws. Is this related to the Scooter case? And why weren't charges re-filed there? Did the Feds screw up that case by revealing too much, hence the whitewash this time?

I'm not saying he didn't do it: anything's possible. And I know when the McDougle case broke, that Villegas was one of the first names brought up. But something feel off.
