News Alert/For Immediate Release
Casino Petition to be Submitted
(Columbus, Ohio) On Tuesday, August 5th at 11 am at The Hyatt on Capitol
Square ( 75 East State Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215), MyOhioNow.com will make an
announcement regarding the submission of signatures to the Ohio Secretary of
State that will place an initiative on the November 4th ballot for a
casino/resort in Ohio. Co-Founders of My OhioNow.com, Rick Lertzman and Dr. Brad
Pressman will be present to discuss the petition drive, the issue and the
campaign to successfully pass this initiative. The ballot issue is to approve a
$600 million dollar destination resort/casino in Clinton County, Ohio with 30%
of the revenues going to the 88 counties based on a per capita basis. The
project will employ up to 5000 jobs along with thousands of jobs in the
construction of the project.

“This has been an exciting opportunity to reach out to Ohio voters in all 88
counties. The response has been overwhelmingly favorable. We are very
appreciative of the effort of hundreds of Ohioans who have helped us in this effort
to place this issue on the November 4th ballot. Ohioans are excited for this
positive economic news. The prospect of up to 5000 new jobs is a bright spot
in a year in which we have faced so much financial adversity and challenges,
“said Rick Lertzman, co-founder of MyOhioNow.com.

Dr. Bradford A. Pressman, co-founder of MyOhioNow.com said “Our petition
effort has given us a unique opportunity to reach out to inform Ohio voters
about the issue. Our message is clear and honest. Frankly, there are 38 states
that currently have some form of casino gambling. Our neighbors, such as
Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia are employing thousands of
residents in their states and returning hundreds of millions of tax revenues from
their casinos. It’s time to keep those dollars within our state borders and
attract tourism dollars back to Ohio. We look forward to spreading this
positive message and will seek the approval of Ohio voters on November 4th.”
At this conference for media only, MyOhioNow.com will discuss the petition,
the number of signatures collected, and their plans for the fall ballot.
The MyOhioNow.com project is a joint venture with Lakes Entertainment
(NASDAQ: LACO) of Minnesota who are operators of premier gaming facilities. The
$600,000,000 casino/resort destination site that is located off I-71 (at State

No votes yet

NO to casinos in Toledo. There are better ways of bringing in money to our local economy than this. Let's not sell out and turn this town into a "Potterville".

What are you afraid of? I say open it all up and let the marketplace decide... not government and not the bluenoses and prudes who want to control every aspect of people's lives. Government has too much control over our lives already. Let the people decide with their wallets what to buy and were to spend.

I notice regarding the gambling issue that the state outlawed the Tic-Tac-Fruit games in bars and then turned around and brought in Keno to those same businesses. Talk about hypocrisy!

I said NO to casinos. I didn't say the government should have any say in it (even though WE are supposed to be the government).

If I get to vote on this issue, my vote is no. In my opinion, casinos bring more criminal element into the area such as prostitution, violent crimes, mob involvement, payoffs for city officials or various other individuals, drug sales, and just plain seediness. I just envision more and more strip-tease joints popping up around the casinos.

Pete , if this proposal makes the ballot and passes, it means the exact OPPOSITE of what you want. If the MyOhioNow group gets their way, they will have the only legal casino resort in the state. Their petition will give them control over all gambling in Ohio, outside the lottery. If a local group wants a Toledo casino 3 years from now, they'll have to submit a petition to amend the state constitution. You can be sure the MyOhioNow group will oppose any attempts to build additional casinos in the state.

Like you, I'm all for legal gambling in Ohio. But in order to get my vote, it'll have to be fully open to anyone who wants to open a casino. Not just a few special interest groups. Yes on MyOhioNow means no casinos in Toledo.

money and business, at only one location. It does not permit any competition , creates a monopoly. It should be defeated
