Indiana denies 12 nuns the right to vote, due to lack of photo ID

Tagged:

About 12 Indiana nuns were turned away Tuesday from a polling place by a fellow sister because they didn't have state or federal identification bearing a photograph.

Sister Julie McGuire said she was forced to turn away her fellow members of Saint Mary's Convent in South Bend, across the street from the University of Notre Dame, because they had been told earlier that they would need such an ID to vote. (cont.)

The poll workers must have thought that voting was nun of their business.

{runs away}

GZ, you borrowed that from kateb LOL
And that's a COMPLIMENT to her, not a "diss"...

Until the lion writes his own story, the tale of the hunt will always glorify the hunter (African proverb)

That's funny.....and apparently the calm before the storm!

If you're here to tell me it's my fault - you're right. I meant to do it. It was alot of fun. That's why I have this happy smile on my face.

In Indiana you need a photo id. Nuns are citizens under Indiana law.

Did you catch the part where they were turned away by ANOTHER NUN? Good for her!

"Just eight days before Indiana's presidential primary, the Supreme Court upheld that state's controversial voter ID law, which critics say will discourage the poor, the elderly and minorities from casting ballots.

The law requires voters to present current government-issued photo identification, and for those who cannot, it establishes a procedure for validating votes after election day. Some 20 states have similar laws, though Indiana's is viewed as the strictest.

The Indiana law won the support of six justices, who divided on the rationale. The main opinion in Crawford v. Marion County Election Board, authored by Justice John Paul Stevens, found that the state's interest in protecting the integrity of the voting process outweighed the insufficiently proven burdens the law imposes on voters. I don't see why people are so upset at being expected to show an ID. Even those who don't drive, it's easy enough to get a state ID. (although, they also have to get a birth certificate & a copy of their SS# - which requires money they maybe don't have.) That said, I find it somewhat ironic, that the law looks the other way (police, courts, etc.) when it's priests molesting kids, but the law is hard & fast on nuns who simply want to vote.

The Indiana voter ID law was established in 2005, which means they had 3 or so years to get ID or they have known for 3 years they should have had one.

Secondly, the Surpreme Court ruled April 28, the Indiana law was legal, which was everywhere. So I don't know if the nuns are free from blame.

I wanted to get free food and money from the government like other good Democrats, so I went to the local Welfare Office.

I had to drive all the way down to Monroe Street! I just wanted to sit on my lazy ass and have the welfare people come to me and take my information. I might even turn off Oprah when they get to my house.

But after I went to all the trouble of taking time out of my busy day watching Jerry Springer and driving to the Welfare Office on Monroe St., those ba$tards had the unmitigated gall of asking me FOR A PHOTO ID or a copy of a utility bill that had my address on it!

I told them that I was poor. I wouldn't be there if I could afford a photo ID. I wouldn't be asking mommy government for money if I could afford to pay my utliity bills.

I told the nosy scum-bags that they had absolutely NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to ask me to prove I was who I said I was. After all, if I am too poor to afford a photo ID to vote, then I am too poor to afford any of the documents that the Welfare office wanted me to produce in order to get free money from the government tit.

Hmmm, maybe someone can explain this delema to Libtarded Americans.

Don't blame me,

now that the Supreme Court has made it almost impossible for DEAD PEOPLE, UNREGISTERED VOTERS AND ILLEGAL ALIENS to somehow magically vote for their socialist agenda.

Boohoo! Libs will have a hell of a time stealing elections now.

Hey YouCanBlowLibs, voter impersonation is a myth. Even the state of Indiana admitted it:

In the Indiana case before the court, the state acknowledged that it had not prosecuted any voter-impersonation cases like those the law seeks to remedy

More of these myths are busted here

And in case you missed the memo from your puppet-masters at the DNC, here are step-by-step instructions for voting DOZENS of times all by yourself.

"I discussed these scenarios with a spokesperson from the Secretary of State's office. She essentially confirmed that there are no safeguards to prevent these sorts of abuses from occurring. The only improvement in the process will be effective January 2006, when federal law requires that names and Social Security Numbers have to be matched against the federal SS database. Such checking will commence sometime in 2005. In the meantime, and certainly prior to our tainted election, there was effectively NO credible verification of identity.
Even in the future when the registrars check the Social Security database, that does not validate someone's citizenship. The exact words the Sec. of State spokesperson used were that there is "NO WAY" to verify whether a registered voter is a United State citizen. Any foreign national who has ever worked legally in the United"

Anyone care to enroll in my 'Re-Education Center' here in Toledo ?
I took my own course and it worked wonders for me.

Everyone is capable of change. That is a major tenet of the philosophy at my centers.

Clarice - it can work wonders for you, too.
