MAJOR CITIES HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUT RATES, DETROIT #1

Seventeen of the nation's 50 largest cities had high school graduation rates lower than 50 percent, with the lowest graduation rates reported in Detroit, Indianapolis and Cleveland, according to a report released Tuesday.

The report found that about half of the students served by public school systems in the nation's largest cities receive diplomas. Students in suburban and rural public high schools were more likely to graduate than their counterparts in urban public high schools, the researchers said.

to see the correlation between the drop out rate and the joblessness in and around the cities where the drop out rates are the highest. The future of our country is in the hands of our children. If they are not prepared to compete in the world they will live in poverty and fall into a life of crime.

Good point! Detroit has highest high school dropout rate, highest unemployment and currently also has the highest crime rate for U.S. Cities.

Unemployment, equals poverty.

Poverty, equals crime.

I don't think you could expect anything more from "progressive" run Detroit. Detroit has not had a republican mayor since 1961 and folks wonder what is wrong with that hell hole?
