ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN OF $600,000,000 OHIO DESTINATION RESORT/CASINO UNVEILED
MyOhioNow.com has unveiled the architectural design plans for the largest private investment in Ohio in the 21st Century.
The plans for the guaranteed minimum $600,000,000 destination resort/casino will employ in contruction-thousands in both union and prevailing wage jobs. The MyOhioNow.com complex will be over 2,000,000 square feet.
This entertainment complex will include a major luxury hotel, restaurants, spa, tournament golf course, convention center, live theater and more. The complex will employ, at the onset, up to 5000 Ohio jobs. The average pay will be $34,000 plus full benefits.
The site will be located in a central location (between Columbus, Cincinnati and Dayton) off I-71 at State Route 73 in Clinton County.
“We are thrilled how our architects have captured our vision of a grand resort/casino that embodies our Midwestern sensibilities. It will undoubtedly attract visitors nationwide as it will be the largest facility between New Jersey and Nevada,” remarked Rick Lertzman, co-founder of MyOhioNow.com.
“Its exciting to bring this level of investment and job creation to our state. This is a dream that my partner and I have had for our state. With the tax revenues going directly to each county to help with their local needs, with no strings attached, with the up to 5000 Ohio jobs that will be offered, and this amazing complex- we are hoping that Ohio voters will embrace a casino plan that finally makes sense for our state,” said Dr. Bradford Pressman, co-founder of MyOhioNow.com.
Dr. Pressman and Mr. Lertzman, the founders of MyOhioNow.com, are childhood friends that have been working nearly 20 years on their shared vision that will be presented at this conference.
The group sponsoring this initiative, MyOhioNow.com, is currently in the process of a statewide drive to collect the necessary 402,225 signatures needed by August 6 to place the issue on the November 4, 2008 statewide ballot.
Under the MyOhioNow.com plan, a guaranteed $600,000,000 destination casino/resort would employ up to 5000 Ohioans and could possibly generate over $200,000,000 in tax revenues that would be divided among the 88 Ohio counties on a per capita basis.
Jamie Farr, Toledo Ohio native and co-star of "MASH" says:
"MyOhioNow.com is a casino plan for Ohio
that adds up and finally makes sense!"
SurveyUSA Poll Finds 68% Of Ohioians Think
Casino Gambling Should Be Allowed In Ohio
On February 18, 2008 SurveyUSA polled 500 Ohioians with the question:
"Do you think casino gambling should or should not be allowed in Ohio?"
The poll, sponsored by WCPO-TV ABC 9 in Cincinnati, showed the following results:
68% - SHOULD 28% - SHOULD NOT 03% - NOT SURE
The poll has a margin of sampling error of +/- 4.2%. This is SurveyUSA News Poll #13382.
The Single Site Initiative
One of the clearest distinctions between the MyOhioNow.com issue and the past approaches is the Single Site Initiative.
While the other proposals scattershot casinos throughout Ohio, our plan is to create one, large destination site that is centrally located. It has great access to the major population centers in Ohio and outside the state, easy transportation access, and will enhance every county in Ohio.
After extensive polling and studies by MyOhioNow.com, our belief is that the voters in Ohio want one, large destination site that would benefit all Ohioans. Thus our proposal will feature one destination resort casino that will be site specific.

Good luck trying to get any gambling (outside of state-controlled gambling) in Ohio. The lunkheads and numskulls in this state wouldn't allow gambling if their lives depended on it. Same with smoking. They're idiots.
Agreed, Pete.

"Oh, Bother!" Said Pooh, as he chambered his last round.

'I used to have compassion, but they taxed it and legislated it out of existence.'
To get even non-smoking gambling to happen, you would have to get through the same gauntlet of blue-nose puritans who nixed the smoking law in the first place. Gambling is not gonna happen in any form! This is what happens when you get the puritans in control... they defeat even the agenda you would like to see passed. The lesson: you can't pick and choose your vices when you've got the blue-noses in control.
When I saw Farr's name attached to it I was hoping the plan was for closer to here. We could use one here to snag some of the casino traffic blowing past us to go to Detroit and Canada.
We could use the jobs here too
For as big of a casino as they're planning this one to be, the state should be taxing the HELL out of them. A casino of this size (it will dwarf any of any of the Detroit or Ontario casinos) will probably be raking in revenues of anywhere from $1M-$5M DAILY!
It just might... but how much of that do you think would reach NW Ohio?
And if they are talking about making that casino the only legal casino then they can forget getting my vote.
Make it legal in all of Ohio or forget it.
Ohio’s governor, Ted Strickland, is in staunch opposition to the payday loan and cash advance industries, but has recently started fighting to pass a gambling bill. The bill would add Keno to Ohio’s lottery games. The bill actually took effect in August 2008, but is being challenged on the November 4 ballot. Strickland states that the bill is a part of a noble effort to raise money for the Ohio public schools. The bill also proposes an amendment to the state constitution that would ultimately authorize the construction of a $600 million casino near Dayton. Strickland is also an ordained Methodist minister, and has been taking criticism from all different kinds of people, including member criticisms from people from all walks of life, including his fellow Methodists. Strickland offers a utilitarian argument: although he opposes the expansion of gaming, this bill will be best for the common good of our children. It’s obvious to see how desperate Strickland is to improve Ohio’s economy. By supporting this bill, Governor Strickland is more or less facilitating financial irresponsibility. Strickland thinks it’s okay for his citizens to gamble away their rent or mortgage payments for the sake of their children’s futures, but disapproves if people need help from a payday lender when they’re short on cash? Can you say “hypocrite?”

The only hypocrisy here is that an American like YOU thinks that people should be legally stopped from placing bets on games as it pleases them.
In which school of the nation did you learn that it was OK to place YOUR moral codes above the liberties of all other people?
