Future Business Leaders Elect to Raise Flag for New Global Identity and
Address Students Join Community Leaders to Celebrate Sylvania as a Lake Erie
West Community

Northview business students will help community leaders including Sylvania
Mayor Craig Stough, Sylvania Schools Superintendent Dr. Brad Rieger,
Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce representatives and other interested
residents to raise a Lake Erie West flag at the Sylvania Administration
Building on Tuesday, March 4 at 10 a.m.

Election Day was chosen to signify the importance of the decision of
community leaders to support the Lake Erie West concept. Even more important
is the commitment of business students, community leaders of the future, to
endorse and embrace the Lake Erie West concept.

At the "State of the Region" conference on 1/30/08, the keynote speaker, Ed
Burghard, executive director of the Ohio Business Development Coalition
stated: "Branding our Regions from a global perspective is no longer an
option: it is a matter of economic survival!"

He also said that Cleveland decided on "The North Coast,",and Cincinnati,
Ohio, has branded itself "Cincinnati, USA" because it includes portions of
Kentucky and Indiana.

Lake Erie West establishes a global address, creates a strong identity for
immediate recognition and encourages the promotion of the region¹s greatest

The Lake Erie West mission is to develop a shared vision and a sense of
community throughout the Lake Erie West Region that will serve as a catalyst
to create opportunities through a positive global identity.

Lake Erie West is a non-profit organization whose volunteer members are
committed to the continual development of a unified vision to improve the
quality of life in the western basin of Lake Erie.
