Middle school issues ban on intentional flatulence ---

Are they serious? Apparently so. Now we know the real cause of global warming. The most hilarious part of this story, though, is that the name of the school newsletter is the Fire Cracker. Don't you just love irony? (Or is it just me?)

The Merriam Webster Dictionary definition for flatulence is brief: "flatus expelled through the anus." And while it's a natural bodily function, it seems some Camden-Rockport Middle School eighth-grade boys are taking it to new heights and making a game of seeing who can expel the loudest and grossest flatus.

According to this week's Fire Cracker school newsletter though, the joke's on the boys as the penalty for "intentional farting" is now a detention.

"Strange, but true, thanks to a bunch of 8th grade boys, intentional farting has been banned from CRMS," the newsletter said. "It started out as a funny joke and eventually turned into a game. This is the first rule at CRMS that prevents the use of natural bodily functions. The penalty for intentional farting is a detention, so keep it to yourself!"

According to a group of seventh-grade students .....

How does one prove that it was intentional?
Not saying it doesn't happen but I'm wondering just how you prove that one?

"Middle School eighth-grade boys are taking it to new heights and making a game of seeing who can expel the loudest and grossest flatus. "

NEW heights?? Eighth grade boys making a game of farting is something NEW???

Personally, I might want to move there because of this issue! Seriously, if this is all they've got to bitch about, things must be pretty good!

LOL good point Billy

Phew !

I live in that town. This was an article written by 8th graders for an unofficial 8th grade "newspaper". It was written as SATIRE, it is not true!!! It is a made up story by kids for kids!! We cann't believe that people across the country believe this.

because thats hilarious!

okay, I am an 8th grade girl who goes to Camden Rockport Middle School. Here is the real story.
ALl of the girls in our grade were starting to get really annoyed at the guys for farting all the time. So me and my friend went to see the guidence counsolor (Ms.Pleas) and told her that we wanted the teachers to do something about it. SO our science techer (Mr.Laroche) talked to all of the boys about how "un cool" farting was.
Then two of the girls in our grade randomly decided that they wanted to start a newsleter for only the 8th graders. So they took about 5 minutes to put this paper together, and print it out, then pass it out to all of the kids in our grade. They had the information wrong. Farting wasn't baned from our school. All it was, was a warning to the guys that if they didn't stop the farting, they were going to do something about it. Fortunately the farting has calmed down, and this news is getting old. But, the women who wrote that article on Villagesoup.com was competely wrong!! She interviewed 7th graders, who had nothing to do with the 8th graders farting. WE do not have any classes with 7th graders, so they should never have been involved. Now you know what realyl happened. If you have any questions e-mail me at

Thank you for listening.

The "Karyn McConnell-Hancock Story" just tried to sneak out the back door and I need help covering all the exits!
