Les Miles shuns Michigan, has agreement to stay at LSU

Les Miles will not be Michigan's next coach after all.

Miles said at a news conference this afternoon in Atlanta, two hours before the SEC championship game, that he would remain at Louisiana State.

LSU athletic director Skip Bertman confirmed that Miles had agreed to a new contract.

“There’s misinformation on ESPN and I think it’s imperative that I straighten it out. I’m the head coach at LSU, I will be the head coach at LSU and I have no interest in talking to anybody else,” Miles said at the Georgia Dome, where his Tigers where to play Tennessee. “I've got a championship game to play and I'm excited about the opportunity of my damn strong football team to play.

Miles made a big mistake. But as a Buckeye fan, I'm glad he did. Can you say Ron English and continued mediocrity?

In a way I'm surprised that he didn't return to Michigan since he once played there. However, I think Miles realized that at LSU he can build a national championship caliber team every year. He can't do that at Michigan. I think he also enjoys the atmosphere that is SEC football. There's nothing that even comes close to the excitement and passion that the SEC member schools and fans have for their football. He's mentioned this several times throughout the year in post-game interviews. Then lastly, I'm sure a nice monetary incentive didn't hurt. :-)

What's bs is the way Les did it. He angrily confronted reporters for even thinking he was considering the idea as if it was obsurd. When in fact he courted the rumors in order to get a better contract.

If Les wasn't that interested in the job why didn't he do what Bob Stoops, Rich Rodriguez, and Robert Kelly did and say he wasn't interested as soon as the job came open?

Les was only thinking about the money and to hear him talk about his dedication to LSU is a joke.
