The Real Agenda of Mothers Against Drunk Driving

Amtrak is offering $100 in free booze to its customers who travel on certain overnight routes, like the Chicago-San Francisco run and the Washington, D.C. to Miami run.

While this sounds like a nifty marketing idea and might even bring on some booze-hounds who might otherwise be tempted to drink and drive, MADD spokeswoman Misty Moyse has criticized the plan. Moyse declared that, "this sounds like a lot of credit toward possible overindulging."

And that, folks, in a nutshell is what the agenda of MADD is really all about. Misty just inadvertently spilled the beans by recognizing that the MADD agenda is not about getting drunk drivers off the road, it's about "overindulging" under any circumstances. It's been clear to me for a while that these organizations' real goal is the elimination of alcohol under ALL circumstances and that their program is really total prohibition in disguise.

Same with the Ohio smoking ban. These groups really want the total elimination of tobacco and will not stop until it is declared illegal.

We never learn, do we? Making these substances illegal just drives it underground, creates crime, and diminishes our rights.

That seems to be why the founder of MADD, Candy Lightner, left the group.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candy_Lightner :

She left MADD in 1985. She has since gone on to criticize the group as "neo-prohibitionist." Lightner has stated that MADD "has become far more neo-prohibitionist than I had ever wanted or envisioned

I agree that MADD is trying to reinstitute prohibition and they should be stopped.

But I also believe our Drunk Driving enforcement is too lax. We don't need more our tougher DD laws we need stronger enforcement of the laws currently on the books.

And they don't enforce dui laws, anymore than they do child molestation laws. (Not to hijack the thread, but my thoughts on THAT, is that they should simply castrate all proven child molesters, with exceptions made for the 18 - 19 yr old boys having sex with 16 - 17 yr old girls, which is more often than not, consentual. Or, make castration the rule for the second offense if that is too harsh for some.)

PETE-The #1 grant donor-in other words, the organization that carries/supports/owns MADD-is none other than our old friend, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The very same one that supports-guess what? Smoker bans.
