Perrsyburg man files $3M lawsuit over red-light cameras

BOWLING GREEN - A Perrsyburg man filed a class-action lawsuit this week in Wood County Common Pleas Court against the city of Northwood, its police department, and the Scottsdale, Ariz., company that installed and maintains the red-light and speed cameras in Northwood.

David A. Czech, on behalf of himself and more than 20,000 others who have been caught by the cameras and issued tickets, claims Northwood and Redflex Traffic Systems Inc. are using an unconstitutional ordinance to extort money from them.

In his complaint, he alleges the ordinance does not "provide due process at any stage of such enforcement."

Mr. Czech is seeking a judgment in excess of $3 million, which he says is the amount of damages and attorneys' fees the plaintiffs have incurred.

here's hoping this group wins.

Maybe if he stopped running redlights he'd stop getting tickets :)

Actually Northwood's lights are horrible. On woodville road, at the northwood high school, the warning signal that the light is about to turn yellow is completely blocked from sight. Then it turns from yellow to red very quickly, it is also a very large intersection and a car doing the speed limit, would take about two to tree seconds to get through it but it goes from yellow to red almost instantly, and dont you even think about tring to speed up to avoid the red becasue you will get one for speeding.

you can thank our version of Michael Gloomturd-Bob Taft, the closet liberal, rockefeller-'republican',big-government lover, and worst governor this state ever had. He along with the Noes, Montgomery, Petro, etc; is responsible for turning the state over to the dems for oh-about three decades, at least.
The state legislature, if you recall, had done away with these(cameras), but grinning idiot Taft vetoed the legislation shortly before he was out of office. He did the same thing with something to do with concealed carry laws, but that time, the legislature grew a temporary spine and overrode his veto.

"They keep talking about drafting a constitution for Iraq. Why don't we give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, and we're not using it any more".
