I'm retired, so I don't have to drive all that much, and just about everything I need is in the Reynolds/Airport vicinity. BUT...most have to work-and you can only cut back SO MUCH...then you're screwed. You HAVE to have the same amount of gasoline to get to and from work every day, which means you must pay the price.

South, Excuse me for being OT, but I wanted to say that I find you one of the most level-headed people on this forum. Most of the people here--myself included--are so far invested in their own dogmas, and so certain in the correctness of their beliefs that far too often conversations here devolve either into Rabid Cage Match or Complete Kiss Ass.

It is always nice to receive some appreciation. I can be a little "over the top" sometimes myself, but I try to see the other guy's point of view. Having lived almost 60 years helps some (you often "shift gears" if not once, maybe several times during your life).

you got the job you'd always wanted, you had it for life. You then tried to buy a home close to where you worked to save money and car wear and tear. When I worked at DeVilbiss, I moved as close as I could get-off of Sylvania Avenue. Many of the 'old-timers' lived within a few blocks, or even across the street, and just walked to work. Those days are, sadly-gne-along with many of those houses. Today, everyone has to (as a rule) commute to work, and this, of course, compounds the gasoline probelem, and has contributed to a lot more american usage.
